The team has been working hard for quite some time on the new site. Now most of the pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place and we are ready to unleash it on the masses.
The fact is that the
spambots got the better of us and so we just had to jump before the events registrations script was ready. Don't worry it'll be back and better than ever in time for our next event!
The only stuff brought over from the old forums is the LANs, Reviews, and Tech Support sections. These were the only threads of any real value. No user accounts have been transferred over - yes, your post count is gone!!
New features you need to be aware of:- Facebook Connect - users can now link an account to their facebook account and have the forums post items to their newsfeed. This is linked at account creation - I'm not aware of an easy way to link a standard account back to FConnect.
- Mobile Friendly - if you access the site via m.morblans.com or mobile.morblans.com or morb.mobi - an extremely light and mobile-friendly version of the site will be loaded which still supports full forum access and posting
- XboxLive Leaderboard - under quicklinks you'll find a link to a leaderboard which consists of all the active users who have the XBL info added to their profiles.
- Iphone/Nokia Mobile App - Yep, there will be a set of apps available to allow a friendly interface for accessing and interacting with the forums from a variety of mobile devices.
- Media Integration - In a similar fashion to facebook - the forums will detect linked media and automatically embed them so try it out!
- Double-post prevention etc - there are several mods installed which will help keep users from developing the usual annoying habits
- Photo Gallery - We know it's missing...! But it is on its way along with a few more features we're working on.
