Feedback and suggestions welcome

Now that's there's a few of you on here, we'd really like some feedback and suggestions as to what people think of the new forum or would like to see.

Bear in mind it's still definitely a work in progress, most obvious of which is the unfinished styling and skinning of the whole thing... But if there's anything you like / don't like, anything else you'd like to see, any other suggestion.. PLEASE let us know.

Reply with your thoughts...

id like to see... the pics from the last morb.
LOL

almost-ninja edit;
its looking really good sofar guys, good work. i like the xfire, xbl and all the other little buttons and doo-dads (even though i dont use many of them myself) that're on the left there <---
sofar though, the thing i like most is how the "new posts" button actually works here for me..

but you wanted criticism not praise. so pics or it didnt happen

I'm going to throw my thoughts in here too...

We're actually waiting on a PHP upgrade so we can throw in a few more interesting plugins.. like a Facebook plugin (notifications on FB about posts, PMs on here, etc), possibly a different photo album and, of course, a proper LAN event rego thing.

Re: the stuff over <- - I personally think it looks a little crowded, especially when you start getting all the different things popping up. Are people happy with it that way, or would you like something a little more streamlined...?

having xfire not show up at all for us people who dont want to use it would be good.
it is a bit chunkified on the left there with the nice fat "XFIRE GET XFIRE" icon.

most of us have widescreen monitors though so its not that big of a deal. still..

i thought the old system of having it in sigs was alright (though the ones in some sigs are quite large themselves)

I might just go to a small Xfire icon then. People can Xfire sigs, plus there's a box on the profile page that has Xfire details too.

---------- Post added at 03:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:28 PM ----------

For those who want their eyes to bleed - Axol is working on a possible skin choice. Like everything, it's a work in progress... but if you want to look there's a style changer box in your UserCP options or on the bottom toolbar of forum pages.

A couple of us might have a crack at different skins and get some public feedback on what they'd like. If there's anyone out there that's done any vB skinning, we're happy to take suggestions.

ah, skin selection is available now..

liking test style 2, good modern update of the old forum style which suits the morb logo. the bright red is a bit harsh on the eyes on my screen though (although, i do have a migrane atm - anything brighter than light grey is harsh lol)

oh and the white borders around the post reply, edit, quote etc buttons still looks funny, no idea how to fix that though as it was like it on the default skin

Most of the default buttons will be replaced completely... as the blue ones don't really fit in.

i like test skins 2, 3 and 4.
am using 4 atm as it feels kinda like a mix of what i like about 2 & 3.
5 and 6 are waay too white, and one of them was pink-ish on my screen, lol.. neither fitted with a hardcore pwnage morb-ish theme..

edit: um, if anyone wants to throw another opinion in aswell.....

The "Search Downloads" in the navbar search gives a 404.

I think because, I was at http://dev.morb.ath.cx while the dir is /forums/downloads/ which gave me a 404.

edit, http://dev.morb.ath.cx has -> http://dev.morb.ath.cx/downloads.php?do=search

It seems that you guys are running vBadvanced up a dir, not in /forums/ I hope you know you can run it in the same dir as the forum software.. you just have to rename the forum index.php to forumindex.php and put the vba and the cmps_index to just index.php .. lol

Or we can just add the download link to one of the things that needs the /forums/ part added when on the front page. :P Cheers though, I've probably missed a few of them.

Download link on main page fixed.

I've fixed up some of the icons (the IM ones especially) but it's not updating here at work. Can someone comment as to whether or not they are still looking crap?

All good. I'll get to the others (edit / quote / reply / etc) when we sort out skins a bit better.
