View Full Version : new nvidia card
http://vr-zone.com/articles/Nvidia_GeForce_8800_GT_Review/5369-1.html
First review Ive found for the new 8800gt, this card will be priced around the same as the 8800gts, but with the performance more on par with the gtx. Dont think I will get one, but for people still running a 7 series card it could be a good buy.
Now I just want the gx2 to come out.
anyone notice the plugs for the new cards? only PCI not PCIeI'm gonna quote that, because it's the noobiest comment I've seen in a while. Tell me, do you think you could get one of those cards to fit in a PCI slot?
yeah I'm just getting a little excited is all.
He was talking about meNo point editing now that I've quoted it. :)
*sigh* looks at the GTS box :(
The new G92 Core GTS will be faster again :D
/me joins burnouts looking at his gts box =(
Well see Nvidia MIGHT be releasing series 9 in feb 2008
series 9?!?! thats a bit quick dont u think???
The series 9xxx cards aren't being made to supercede the 8xxx series.. So don't expect any more huge performance gains..
ah, damn, no huge price drop on the 8 series then.
thought it was a bit fast for them to bring out something EVEN MORE POWERFUL than a 8800ultra
Around February/March 2008, GeForce 9800 GX2 will be released. This card is meant to replace Nvidia's current top performer, the GeForce 8800 ultra, as it would be "at least 30% faster". GeForce 9800 GX2 can be easily described as two 8800 GPUs with 65 nm die and connected together through an internal SLI link....which explains how they came out so fast

Hmmm, it seems as though I was misinformed. Sorry about that. Aside from the dual core card though, the rest of the series isn't really going to do much better than the 8xxx series. I'd hate to see how much that really costs....
found some news on the 9800 gx2 with some sweet pics http://www.rlslog.net/geforce-9800-gx2-pics-specs/ looks like the card come with built in digital audio and hdmi. Dosn't look like its going to fit in my cases though. The expected price is around $449 US
This is also a very sweet site to check out if you've never been there before.
so the 9 series DO supersede the 8 series??
so the 9 series DO supersede the 8 series??It looks as though the GX2 does, not sure about the rest.
thick vid card. will be fun to have someone at morb get one and benchmark. going by XE convertion, the cards in the vicinity of $565AU. hmm, for some reason that sounds a bit cheap...

There's import costs, more shipping, handling, markup crap... It'd probably take over the $700 price slot.
is there a way to work all that junk out?? or at least work it out on the rough?
yeah, wait until it's available here...
By comparison however,
xe.com has an exchange rate for USD to AUD
in reality paypal is a few points higher so you lose more in the conversion
add shipping which for express can be rediculous (I once paid almost $50 to ship some cables from the US express and they still took over a week to get here)
once they're available here you will most likely find it over the $700 point, they won't cut the bottom out of their own top-end market as they can obviously make sales there (or they'd never release any products priced that high!)
anything else until they're actually available is just speculation however.
We can't even get 8800gt's from one of our suppliers at the moment as all the fab's shut down for chinese new year a couple of weeks back and are only just ramping up production again...
Havin seen some the other day.. we found one really bad problem... cooling "waving a tissue would move more air than that fan"
it was sitting at 55-60 idel...
Turn fan speed up with rivatuner or that nvidia thingy? =/
this is why i love my fat G80 GTS cooler xD
and the awesomeness of my OC. beats a GT
it is fat... its fatter than the g80 gts
give it a decade, people will be wheelin in their computers on trolleys, thanks to the video card size increases
just the chips aren't able to handle that sorta heat, wait until they start adopting different chip designs, better cooling designs, i remember my old S3 Trio with nothing but a heatsink on it. they'll figure out how to cool it more efficiently.
