19-01-2007, 05:10 PM

19-01-2007, 10:45 PM

08-02-2007, 01:37 PM

08-02-2007, 02:57 PM
oh really....

sucks to live in portland.

08-02-2007, 03:05 PM
Hamilton won't be getting ADSL2+ for a while either... And I'm stuck on contract.. so I'll have to take the expensive 8mb plan for a while.

27-03-2007, 06:06 PM
Weird I get 800Kb with mine. Im with Bigpond though.I got an email saying i hit my 10gb limit and that ill slow to 64kb im at 45gb now still full speed :D

27-03-2007, 06:11 PM
depens on your distance to the hub.

27-03-2007, 06:54 PM
Yeh im living in geelong (corio) so don't no iff im close or far.

30-04-2007, 12:57 PM
Theres ADSL2+ in Warnie?

30-04-2007, 01:29 PM
Theres ADSL2+ in Warnie?I don't think there is. But you can still get 8Mbit in both Hamilton and Warrnambool... I'm on 8Mbit myself now.

30-04-2007, 01:59 PM
ADSL2+ will be in wbool v soon.

30-04-2007, 02:04 PM
ADSL2+ will be in wbool v soon.Which ISP?

30-04-2007, 05:41 PM
not sure i should be saying anything.

01-05-2007, 04:22 PM
ADSL2+ will be in wbool v soon.Which ISP?

I said a few months ago that warrie will be getting 8mb, And all you loled at me.

01-05-2007, 04:43 PM
ADSL2+ will be in wbool v soon.Which ISP?

I said a few months ago that warrie will be getting 8mb, And all you loled at me.We laughed because you were guessing, and because 8Mbit is ADSL1... Everyone else is talking about ADSL2+... Big difference.

I'd still like to see which ISP is going to put an ADSL2 DSLAM in Warrnambool... Damo, being secretive about it isn't really going to mean a great deal. If someone's putting something in, the more interested generated, the better.

01-05-2007, 05:40 PM
Hehe I know who it is 2 ... but I ain't sayin

01-05-2007, 06:43 PM
who really cares who it is as long as it goes in =)

Then the point of posting that was?

Then the point of posting that was?

Coz the fact is i shouldn't know it (it makes sense if you knew the story behind this)

05-05-2007, 01:12 AM
It was a grand scheme to annoy u gemdog... Its a scheme everyone is in on :P

And all it achieved was to make you look like a show off tool to the rest of the community.
There's plenty of things I probably know that others don't, but I'm not walking around bragging about it.

I don't mind if you want to look that way. Frankly I don't care anyway, I'm already on a ADSL2+ exchange.

05-05-2007, 05:49 PM
Dude no need to be so personal about it, it wasnt a message to the"community" I was just having a dig at an old school mate, coz one of his coworkers can't keep her mouth shut

I work for what could be considered an opposition company, thats the funny part about it. Although I've been a customer of their's until I moved recently.

I even recommend them for some of our customers.

I don't care about local business poilitics, there's plenty of work in Warrnambool, for all of us.

In the end we're all just paid nerds, forced out of unemployment and a life of WOW, internet forums and countersrike into the scary real world

And by the way, ADSL2 looks interesting, I'll definately look into it coz the uploads look sweet for our cutsomers that run Terminal Servers.

Whats it like for gaming Gemdog?

05-05-2007, 10:36 PM
I know stuff that u don't know gemdog... so HA!!!!

Im a showoff tool and proud :D !!!!

Seee, bragging is kewl. Your just jealous of my sexc body... :P

rock on!

13-06-2007, 11:24 PM
So anybody on ADSL SuperFast yet? Care to comment on it?

I might just be willing to switch over to WestVic if their plans are good and the speed is reliable.

40gig for 80 bucks seems to be good value especially for down here. I'm currently on TSN's 50gig 1.5mbit plan and I'm paying $70 for that.

I must say I'm tempted.

Edit:

Although I'm slightly disappointed that it's a peak/off-peak plan. Oh well, will just have to change my internet habits is all.

14-06-2007, 10:58 AM
1 more netspace referral, then i get my ps2... then i'm changing to superfast - atm im on netspace 8mb adsl which roxx but fark its dear!

14-06-2007, 11:39 AM
atm im on netspace 8mb adsl which roxx but fark its dear!QFT. Plus I haven't referred anyone to NS in a long time. Quality ain't what it used to be.

14-06-2007, 03:01 PM
i just switched to westnet and 100% happy with them so far.
took 3 days to transfer.

14-06-2007, 06:34 PM
here here beefy.. although ive been capped for the past few days and they havent slowed me down..

15-06-2007, 12:33 AM
tell everyone netspace is shit - if enought people leave my connection will be more awesome... excellent plan..

13-07-2007, 11:56 PM
Well looks like I will soon be churning over to Westvic SuperFast ADSL.

My TSN 1.5m plan just increased by $40 up to $109.95, sif I'm paying that much. Bastards. I was happy on that plan.

Am thinking of going WestVic's 20gig plan. It's in my price range, although I'm still not happy with peak/off peak, will have to get used to that. Still it's going to be a hell of a lot better than $40 increase.

27-07-2007, 09:31 PM
Iv'e switched to westvic, during the day fantastic, during the night it's laggy takes 10sec to bring up the ninemsn page !!!!

During the day i get about 5000kbps to 8000kbps, night time 800kbps !!!!

28-07-2007, 10:08 AM
tell everyone netspace is shit - if enough people leave my connection will be more awesome... excellent plan..

Damn straight so what we need is an exodus from netspace, i have had a gut full of all the connection problems and in game packet loss, and its getting worse of late.

if ppl dont start leaving to make my conection better then im off.

28-07-2007, 02:03 PM

Bit like there wireless net..Fine all day until night then you get spikes to around 400-500 ping and doggy speeds.

28-07-2007, 05:23 PM
wel i cant say i have that problem my connection is constant.

06-08-2007, 12:08 PM
im still on dial up shud get my ass in to gear and get something worth using

12-08-2007, 04:45 PM
I was searchin a site i was told about and i found a rather interesting internode plan if ur not intending on extreme downloads its not bad for a 24mb/1mb 20gig limit its a warrni plan as well $60 a month, no contract but a $129 connection fee.....anyone with internode and if there any good?
http://internode.broadbandguide.com.au/buy/140-373-home-extreme-value-up-to-24000k/1000k-20gb theres a link

12-08-2007, 05:11 PM
Lol node, Give you a great price. once they have locked you into a contract, Prices go up up up up..

13-08-2007, 02:47 AM
i doubt node has a dslam in warrnambool anyways .. mebbe for 8mb adsl no probs, but not dsl2+..

13-08-2007, 12:34 PM
Node plug ppl into the telstra one if they don't have a dslam in that area.

I'm on node, but they connected me to the Telstra unit.

31-08-2007, 11:14 PM
Bigping (telstra) now have ADSL2+ in warrnambool. my uncle is getting speeds around 15mb from a 3km line.

31-08-2007, 11:17 PM
Did u even read wat ^^^^^^he^^^^^^ said????

are you sure of that - coz as i knew it, telstra were not on-selling their adsl2 lines...?

01-09-2007, 11:39 AM
Probably didn't make that quite clear...

Well I dunno about ADSL2, but I'm 100% sure (Coz I can see it on my login) that Node do it for ADSL1, unless Agile are in the area.

01-09-2007, 01:16 PM
rofl every1 does it for dsl1 - its a bit different with 2/2+ a very explicit difference lol

15-09-2007, 07:14 PM
OK, I've had Westvic's SuperFast ADSL2+ 20gig plan for probably almost a month now.

First impressions weren't great. Download speeds were not indicative of the line speed I was syncing at, even when using a download manager, e.g. Download Accelerator.

However, when I was messing around with a LiveCD of a Linux distro, I noticed that web access seemed much more responsive, download speeds were pretty much on target, up to 800KB/s compared to perhaps 250KB/s through Windows, I was able to stream video from different sites without having to wait continuously for the buffering of the video under Windows.

Of course, it could be the crappy OS I am using, which is XP x64. Rodney had it right when he said it was a clusterf**k of an OS. I'm either going to switch over to Linux or even try out Vista, I haven't decided yet.

In short: WestVic is pretty damn good, most of the time, until you get shaped.

800kbs is the 8mbit line thats adsl1 not adsl2+

17-09-2007, 10:51 AM
I'm only syncing at around 8mbit tho. ADSL2+ can be anything from a minimum of 1.5mbit, up to 24mbit due to many contributing factors such as distance from exchange, quality of phone wiring, age of phone-line, etc.

17-09-2007, 11:23 AM
well why dont you tell use all of that you concerning that stuff

btw i think most new that.. networking 101 :D

go 1.5mb 8)

27-08-2008, 06:22 PM
old thread but thought id add

im on westvic dsl2, and like punda its only syncing at 8mbit it seems
get a max of about 600 odd kbps download speed, uploads about 80

so yeah, may aswell be adsl1 8mbit..

was on a billion 5102 with upgraded dsl2 firmware but ditched that for a netgear dg834g (also on latest firmware) so i could get the wii online, but still getting the same net speeds

we are about 500m from the westvic office, first street off morris' rd.
no idea where our exchange is however

apart from the lame dsl1 speeds im fairly happy with westvic. cept im almost always shaped for 3 weeks out of every month coz i get bandwidth crazy :)

edit:
modem status
DownStream Connection Speed 6895 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 879 kbps
Line Attenuation down 54.0db, up 29.6db
Noise Margin down 5.3db, up 7.5db

27-08-2008, 07:37 PM
morris' rd.
shit copper up there, my uncle could get about what you have!

28-08-2008, 11:52 AM
...we are about 500m from the westvic office, first street off morris' rd.

...

the warrnambool exchange is on koroit street near liebig street, across the road from the church.

like burnouts said, prolly shitty copper plus a fair haul from exchange. the guys at westvic can usually get a link-map to get an idea how good/bad your line is going to be..

29-08-2008, 01:11 AM
dammit

wonder what speeds adsl1 would get here then... augh!

edit: and right now its offpeak (past midnight) and ive still got 2.3gb left to use, and its running slower than it does during the day when im capped.. downloads are at less than 50 kbps

web pages constantly time out

guessing westvics getting reamed by leechers who are trying to get their moneys worth before the end of the month?!
bastards thats what i wanted to do

29-08-2008, 03:53 AM

ive been with them for 2 and a half years now, its the same at every end of the month, people like you clogging up the network..

29-08-2008, 07:54 AM
was on the phone to donkey last night and he has the same problem, hes on morriss rd about 2/3 the way up on the dennington side and can't even get it, Westvic said dont bother with us and Sat is still too expensive, telstra really should be delivering on their promises, maybe make it so that all the major towns have some sort of total coverage.

i thought it was a given considering warrnambool is the 4th biggest town in Victoria...

29-08-2008, 09:37 AM
just because we're big doesn't mean there is any money in us.

29-08-2008, 01:30 PM
yeah, but you would think the population centres would be covered, i know the bush is having some trouble getting it going but realistically warrnambool should be covered

29-08-2008, 05:39 PM
