View Full Version : LAN Of The Damned: The Aftermath
Well the LAN Of The Damned has been and gone, i'd like to thank all those who attended, except Beefy, the coronary was not fun. I hope everyone had a good time and backed up lots of stuff, for safety reasons of course. Let me know what you all thought of the LAN and any improvements we could consider should we try it again in the future.
LOTD would like to thank all the people that assisted in making the LAN possible,
Firstly Peter Costello at Warrnambool Buisness Center for the venue and all his co-operation it was most appreciated, the LAN definatly would not have happend with out it :D .
Also a big thankyou to Skullshot, Beefy, The Master for assisting with switches, cable a server and router with out the help of these people the LAN also couldn't have happend.
Last but certainly not least, all the people that came and played at the LAN, we look foward to seeing you all at future LAN's Of the Damned.
A damn good night all round. I missed out on Insane but it looked like good sensless carnage to me.
As for too much Mohaa, well I had plenty o' fun but that could be cause I ruled on almost every level.
Battlefield would have been better if everyone was playing but the chances of all the people playing the same game at a LAN are slim to not a fukin chance in hell! Plus I think some of my own team mates kept shooting me.
More LOTD LANs will be happening for sure and maybe next time I'll actually help.
I would just like to say.......HOORAY for INSANE...:D
That game was most fun as...
LAN was very good, only improvement i can think of is to have more bins/garbage collection
maybe also if u have a freight elevator....we could actually use it when we leave next time :P

Well, if that's the way you want to be about it.....
Yeah that Insane was a wicked game, and I usually hate car games. Funny as hell, Munch nearly had a heart attack......maybe they should print some kind of warning on it.
I think next time we'll just wheel in one of those Barton skiffs, who'd have thought 30 LANers could accumulate so much rubbish in 27 hours. And as for the freight elevator, it was working fine when we arrived, one of the LANers has a kick in the ass coming their way, though I doubt they're gonna own up.
And I'm sure Beefy realises I was kidding, naturally I was cause he's bigger than me :D
Insane reminded me of Motocross / Midtown Madness. It's one of those games that's great for getting away from typical LAN games. and it's good, clean fun.
It's great fun once cabin fever has set in, brilliant. There's nothing more amusing than driving around in a flat car with only 2 wheels.
less heat, less smell, more room, less mohaa
:)
otherwise it was a medium lan from my point of view - although kinda hard to satisfy me when i'd just been to a thoroughly enjoyable LAN the night before in a house environment with 16 people all playing the same game, that's the life :)
But all in all I got about another 17 albums of MP3s and a couple of movies and a copy of Medievil total war so it's all good.
when did the elevator stop working?
less heat, less smell, more room, less mohaa
less smell for sure I wonder who was the smelly bastard that kept letting ass smells go????...Dang near lost my breath halfway through DoD...
sKs, Beefy.........W1kEd????
the heat was ok though after some inteligent person turned the fan back into the room...and I never played mohaa mainly because I could not be farked putting it on...a game list would be cool for next time we lan so that all can come prepared.....but not a necessaty.
someone could have emptyed the bin half way through the night and then u would not have had as much rubbish in the morn...I was going to do it but ......well ....hmmm...yea...I was too busy getting fragged...:D
hey, it wasn't me.. it seemed to be coming from the corner of the room, cos w1ked was smellin em before I did. unless it was him...
Games lists are always a bit iffy, cos you never know what you will play. I mean, I'd never seen Insane before that day. Plus it's not always easy getting your hands on the game to install it before the day. I was lucky enough to have most of them installed already (except HL, but that was my choice a long time ago to kill that). I thought about joining the UT game, but thought I had deleted that too, but then I found it on my system. :) I coulda given you all that flogging I said I would.
Considering the fact neither Munch nor I can read minds it's pretty difficult to supply a list of games people want to play ahead of time. However I did post a thread specifically to find out what games everyone was interested in playing. Unfortunately not many people posted in it, but it did give some indication what was in store. If you wanted to know what to install Shadowman it was there you'd find it.
but that would involve people being organised...
Yeah no matter how hard we try, getting these LANers to be organised is like trying to get a vampire to go sunbathing.
exactly.. nice metaphor. :D
LAN was fantastic. The only improvements I could think of is me getting a better machine, with a hard drive that doesn't die when you install something on it.
Besides that, I found the LAN to be quite enjoyable. 1NSANE was fantastic mindless fun. Makes me wish I could drive my car around like that, without getting killed of course.
When the next LAN draws near, perhaps a thread should be started, where people post up the name of the games that they would be interested in playing at the LAN, that way, we have some idea of what people are going to want to play at the LANS.
We did you knoblin, in fact we were just talking about it, lol.
http://morb.ath.cx/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=242
it's more the fact that not everyone looks / sees / posts what they want in those threads..
we just need more of the lanners to learn how to use the internet as well...
then they could come here and join in the public duscussions....
*sigh* its a great dream..
In the time that I have spent online I have noticed one thing, that there is a surprising amount of ppl online that have no idea what a LAN is especially online gamers they must live in a world of their own.
maybe it goes both ways, maybe ppl who LAN dont understand how to opperate the internet properly:D
maybe lanners think they are online when they plug their CAT5 cable into the telephone socket....except they dont realise the ppl they chat to in quake3 / ut2003 are bots and automatic relies... ?
LMAO. I remember Trav used to get really offended by the bot auto-taunts in UT.
The pictures from the LAN Of The Damned are now up on the LOTD website so if you missed out on attending or you wanna see if your ugly mug got captured on film head over and take a look.
