http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/
I want one NOW
omg, thats sweet as, and its silver, thatle go with my case lol, the glowing pictures on the buttons are really sweet, very much like it. I want one NOW tooO!
Wonder if the keys push easy?? I can imagine that they would feel like laptop keys..
i dont mind using the laptop keys but the only thing i dont like about laptop keys are that there REALLY loud....that key board is sooo sick, it seemed pretty long though
Finally, we can have an AnyKey!
passwords would go to a whole new level, and slow down the two-finger bandits!
BUT DO WE FINALLY GET AN ANY KEY??? I THINK NOT! damn two button bandits aye gem?? im up shit creek then! lol!
There's so many possibilities with these keyboards though.
- Animations on the keyboard (play a movie on it!)
- 'Screensavers' for your keyboard while it's idle, to match your screen
- Hotkey heaven for any gamer, being able to see what you need to press.
- Have keys glow / blink when they need to be pressed.
And many more...
if this is the next gen keyboard, i cant wait to c the matching mouse ^.^
I wonder what price they'll put on it though.....
well there goes peachy ever owning one! lol!
what, on the site it said $105.00 but i thought that was a little low, maybe it was for something else, but i DID see a 105 dollas on somethign
bring on the animated disco lights key-saver!
Use it like a scratchie, press the key it uncovers...
GO BACK TO BED KIDS!
the $105 was for a mouse that looks like the windows pointer
Thats the dopest thing iv ever seen! Asif im not gonna have animated porn icons!
lol its meant to cost less than a decent mobile so i say bout 400 or less for the keyboard
looks pretty cool. still think logitech rule
OMFG, GIMI, oh sweet jesus. that rocks
well i'll get stevo_Kid's mum on to it to see if it's any good
I dont know if anyone is still interested in this keyboard but http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/ now says that it is going to be released February 1, 2006 - not sure if this is a worldwide release, most likely not
there is still no confirmed price but i guess it could be anything from $150-$300
i wont be getting 1, just got the logitech G15 which im very happy with. But, what about the rest of you?[/url]
i've already emailed them asking for a "pre-order" no matter of the costs...
i would have to see the price b4 getting that, but yeh i would love it :D!

Right now the keyboard is still technically a prototype and the cost is hovering around US $200 to produce this keyboard.
200.00 USD (United States Dollars) = 265.340 AUD (Australia Dollars)
1 USD = 1.32670 AUD 1 AUD = 0.753750 USD

New update (kinda) http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus-mini/answers/
This shows a 3 button keypad of the same nature being put on pre-order for $100 US. After pre-order it will be more... How much is the full size one going to cost? Im quessing more than the $200 the BeeP suggested... :(
Also, the OLEDs that are used to display the pretty pictures are only rated for 5000 hours without a screen-saver. With a screen-saver, would they last a year for a person like me who will probably be living computers over the next 3 years because of my uni course (computer science)? Not to mention hard-core gamers...
Another problem is that the OLEDs used require a lot of power, most likely more than the USB connection can supply. This will most likely mean that an external power supply will need to be used.
This site - http://www.litearray.com/products-oled.php - shows some of the typical specs and requirements of the OLEDs
sorta is a big let down hearing all that :(
all that for a key board, ill keep dreaming tho
Also, the OLEDs that are used to display the pretty pictures are only rated for 5000 hours without a screen-saver.
However they don't burn out as such, they just become dimmer than before. (I.e. their brightness suffers)
The 5000 hours lists how long before the brightness becomes 50% than that of new.
thats still prettty good, they have done well to get that far.
The screens are very fragile, so they were put inside polycarbonate keys to protect them from mechanical damage.
Still probably be easy to wreck, especially if you were just own by a noob from lag or something like that.
lol, thats so ture. but i still like the g15 just because it tells you about what ya doing in the game and stuff about ya computer.
if u get the new drivers for the g15 it also checks ur POP3 email and lets u know if u have a new unread email. its pretty handy cos u can read the subject line and who its from and if u dont wanna open up ur email client to delete it u can do it from the lcd's buttons
There's plenty of mods about for the G15. Some of us were using them at HamLAN. I like the BF2 one myself.. ;)
a guy got banned by blizzard after getting his g15 to play world of warcraft for him shile he slept :P
i thought that was oretty funny lol
Really? All it can do it set macros to keys, didn't realise it could work like a bot...
Maybe he played badly....spent 5 hours wailing away with his sword at a tree....
a guy got banned by blizzard after getting his g15 to play world of warcraft for him shile he slept :Pl
he made it swap gear while fighting something 35 lvls lower then him. just doing it to lvl his skill in weapons. he was awake the whole time watching a movie. just didnt reply to any messages he got so they assumed he wasnt there
link to a page he made about it
http://infernix.net/wowban/
i feel sorry for that man
However, unattended is simply not the case, as I was near the computer. How else were I to activate the macro on my keyboard? I do have a cat, i admit, but I am quite sure it's incapable of such actions. And no, I haven't tried training my cat to play WoW.
LOL!
It brings an interesting point forward. The Warden.
By the way it runs, It would be extremely easy to write a virus that gets player's accounts banned, simply by making false processes with the bots names.
lol trained his cat to play wow. I have played WoW for nearly 3000 hours  hes been a busy man with 2 lvl 60s on 2 different servers
