Did you plug them in?
Are they SATA? If so, did you install the drivers?

And with a new system, its a good idea to format windows, to clear out old drivers and stuff.. ya should try that...

I've got the drives detected but now when i try to format wit my windows xp cd it gets to 100% then says that it cant format and reboots the computer so i'm trying a low level format of that drive so hopefuly that fixes it cos when it gets going its gonna be a sweet system and i'm really looking forward to testing it out at morb

Only format the main drive, and main partition, do the rest from within winblows once you have xp or the like up. You can continue installing apps at the same time then as well.

if ur installing windoze onto a sata drive - are u using the floppy disk (sata) drivers? (press f6 when it asks)

if its basically erroring after the disk format thats what it would be, same thing happens with scsi setups

its werid - i just checked it out then... his comp locks up in boot when detecting HHD's IF his new 200gb WD is connected....

so after removed that drive.

then - it will only detect 1 of the 2 OTHER drives thare are connected - ones that were in the old system, and working fine on thier own.... i was stumped.

ps. jumpers etc are fine, tryed new cables - took everything else out etc - only thing i didn't try is different RAM ~ ran out of time.

Umm can I just make a single suggestion? The western digital drives have two settings for master - master when single drive on channel or master when slave is present. Make sure that this is right, I've seen similar problems before.

Try the WD in another box, could possibly be f'd
