i have a large problem

I have a resonably new computer about 4 months old, nothing old all new bits. BUT FOR SOME RESON it is screwing up, i have sent it to the guys who made my PC and they replaced the power supply coz it was shutting off BAM like that no puttons pushed.

Also they guys said the bits should work well together.

Now i hvae dots splots and crap appearing all over my windows and destop.

here is an example

some one help me b4 i throw my pc through the window or at my mother.

My vidio card is a ATI Radion X800XT Saphire

im after some advice. i can handle hardware too.

16-05-2005, 08:41 PM
Try re-seating ur graphics card mate. Could also try drivers (tho i doubt it looks more hardware-y 2 me).

If it don't work I reakon ur video card may be cactus dude, least its still under warranty.

16-05-2005, 08:46 PM
yeh but if i send it bac ILL MISS MORB AHHH. thnx for replying so fast

16-05-2005, 08:55 PM
update drivers and try the "oh fuck" test - touch the GPU cooler on the card and if "oh fuck" occurs then you know somethings wrong.

16-05-2005, 08:56 PM
im jealous. i want dots splots and crap 2 :(

16-05-2005, 09:19 PM
Check for background tasks, there are a few 'older' programs that play havoc with XP's graphics system.

Post a copy of task manager's processes page an give us a look (right click the taskbar)

16-05-2005, 09:23 PM
buy a new monitor cable.

16-05-2005, 09:31 PM
yeah well it is gg's old monitor and it is pretty fucked you cant see shit in the middle of the screen

16-05-2005, 09:32 PM
u will miss morb? shit ill sell you my card for 500 bucks. lol

16-05-2005, 09:58 PM
ok here it is

16-05-2005, 10:07 PM
Are you running XP Home?
I'm guessing Raid Drives too?

(unblock me from msn, and i'll help)

16-05-2005, 10:16 PM
Something's incompatable with your pc,
unsecapp.exe is a compatability helper for windows.

you aint gunna like this but i'd say reformat it.

16-05-2005, 10:33 PM
1st thing is 1st you have a rediculas amount of shit running there with only MSN running?

also 2 copys of ati2evxx.exe

nothing in there is going to be giving you the artifacts you've got simple because of a program running... for the love of god download the newest drivers, clean up your PC and look @ testing a new monitor/cable.

also for true effect, could you please host the images in something other then gif as it does not accuratly depict exactly the issue which in tern might help us, help you.

16-05-2005, 11:02 PM
Instead of a different monitor cable, y dont u just try plugging a different monitor in???

Tho Im still sceptical that'l be the problem, worth a try tho.

Dots aren't usually a common problem with CRT monitors (def wit LCD tho od course). Think about how the image is formed on a CRT (i.e. horizontal and vertical deflection of electron beam thru a shadow mask). A problem with the shadow mask or tube could cause such a problem but it would be permanently like that, not intermittent... and they're usually white in my experience (all 3 primary colours combined at full intensity).

Anyhows, if your worried about temp maybe have a look at the built in temp. monitor in your ATI driver or use something like ATI tool.

If it's overheating with the stock fan and u aint overclocking it or being stupid, surely ud get the thing replaced under warranty anyhows?

16-05-2005, 11:41 PM
Heheh.. I like the suggestions of the new monitor.. Think about it. He's taken a f'ing screenshot. Dots wouldn't show up on a screenshot if the monitor / cable was faulty.. ffs.

- Does it always look splotchy, or only after it's been running for a while? (Heat)

- Has it started doing it after a software / driver install? (software)

- Have you done a virus scan / spyware scan? (post a HiJackThis log if you need a hand with that too)

17-05-2005, 12:44 AM
hehe yeah beef new monitor :D
*slaps damo*

i used to make that picture happen on my gf4 ti4200 when i oc'd the mem too high... so thinking along those lines - could be bad mem on card yeah?

prolly wouldnt hurt to do a quick format to eliminate all the q's beef suggested.
vanilla windoze sp2 add latest whql'd drivers and it should be problem free..

17-05-2005, 09:04 AM
If you don't want to reinstall, but want to check it out anyways, boot off a Knoppix CD (Linux distro that runs from CD) or similar. If it works properly, then it's a Windows issue.

Actually, that being said.. when the machine boots, is it fuzzy? Or just when Windows kicks in?

17-05-2005, 12:16 PM
LOL sks, i had an old geforce 4 mx that did the same wen u played with the memory, eventually it did it 24/7. My old man still has the card in his PC tho lol

Beefy's right there's no way the monitor would be the culprit

* i guess im just not patronising enough of other ppls ideas....*

Good idea with the Knoppix CD 2 dude

... Took ya time to realised i carfully placed that snag in my response.......................................... .....................

oh get farked - i hate computers - i'm just so terrible.

oh get farked - i hate computers - i'm just so terrible.
I realised that the moment I saw you trying to install a heatsink.. :)

17-05-2005, 07:09 PM
hmm.. looks like what happens when i OC my VC too much... its a heat problem i think.. make sure the heatsink is properly seated on the VC (see if it wobbles or if its on tight) if it wobbles.. umm... stop it from wobbling... ^_^

If its not that.. i dont know.. also.. clean dust outa the vc fan and stuff..

17-05-2005, 08:18 PM
update drivers and try the "oh f***" test - touch the GPU cooler on the card and if "oh f***" occurs then you know somethings wrong.

17-05-2005, 10:25 PM
K, this may sound a lil' wierd
(I had to do this at a bronx lan, and got some strange looks)
Go and grab one of those pedistal fans, wip the lid of mr PC and point the fan into the box, it can drop temps majorly, and see what happens.

(It drops my current system's temp from 44 to 26 degrees - that was before i went to my Thermaltake Tsunami case now 33 with heater on.)

17-05-2005, 10:32 PM
That comes down to the heat problem. We really need some feedback / results before we try help anymore.

Oh, and Gemdog, if that was a problem, you might wanna look at some decent airflow through the case ;)

17-05-2005, 10:38 PM
whadda ya expect, it was a crap beige box from cpl worth dick-all and had one pissy fan. It was also that week where it didn't go below 27, and was about 35 indoors.

18-05-2005, 08:56 AM
That could explain it then :)

Still no word from the OP?

18-05-2005, 03:39 PM
maybe, just maybe.. he tried the touch the VC heat sink thing.. and is recovering in hospital.. from burns and such...

or.. just maybe.. he put his finger in the fan.. and bleeded to death.. and then.. sprayed blood on the mobo.. and killed his putah?!?!?

18-05-2005, 05:48 PM
Heheh.. I like the suggestions of the new monitor.. Think about it. He's taken a f'ing screenshot. Dots wouldn't show up on a screenshot if the monitor / cable was faulty.. ffs.lmao, good point Beefy
Go and grab one of those pedistal fans, wip the lid of mr PC and point the fan into the box, it can drop temps majorly, and see what happensI've had to do that too, it looks dodge as but it does work.
I recall there's a photo of BL at one LANOTD where he's using the ceiling fan to lower his case temp, lol.

19-05-2005, 05:45 PM
beefy it does all that shit as soon as he turns his computer on

19-05-2005, 05:56 PM
Then it's not a heat problem. Next suggestion is try the video card in someone else's machine. If it does it to them then it's a dodgy vid card.

19-05-2005, 08:13 PM
i'll put it in mine next time i go over, 1 thing thou he was having problems with the ati drivers after installation, so i reccomended he try omega and it has seemed to have fixed the problem, for now anyway

20-05-2005, 04:04 PM
OK, sorry my computer wasnt turning on for some time, (how troubleing) the omgega drivers didnt help, so now im gunna stick me card (lol stick) in kyphos machine, and see how it goes. I rang the supplier and they siad they will replace it. so looks like ill be geting a new card. Thanks for all the help and suggestion iv tried em all, sept for all of aples.! coz u know. APPLES!

22-05-2005, 02:36 PM
damn that sux that it fucked up again :( hope it doesnt take them long to replace it

23-05-2005, 02:30 PM
Yeh same, i dont like not having my comp for a long time. I get withdrawls from bordom! :?

15-06-2005, 08:07 PM

15-06-2005, 08:12 PM

Umm, Kid, you may want to read the forum again, we're talking video cards here.

16-06-2005, 09:35 AM
He's just being a spam whore at the moment. It'll pass.

16-06-2005, 02:38 PM
Theres a monty python just waiting to be placed there...

04-07-2005, 09:31 PM
hey shane did you know you were talking to me in that bottom pic, i thought it was pretty amazing someone had time to talk to me :P

05-07-2005, 02:05 PM
U got the same issue i have. Turns out my motherboard was the issue. I fixed it by updating the M/B drivers..Turns out windows has AGP driver issues with some chipsets. It also cause games to bog down sometimes even though i was running them at a Very low spec.

BTW i had a Nforce 2 chipset on my PC. But I've heard of the same issue with later Nforce chips and some VIA chipsets.

05-07-2005, 02:54 PM
You should always keep fairly up to date with nForce and the Via 4-in-1 drivers.
