Does anybody know of any generic Win98SE drivers for USB flash drives? I've had a hunt around and had no luck.

you have to use genuine ones.

Bugger. It didn't come with any and it doesn't have a brand name on it :(

You could always use an XP machine and install a dos bootloader on it and copy via dos.
Yes, painful, but it solves the problem, handy for restores too.

The reason I want the drivers is because I often have to fix other people's PCs and occasionally they have Win98. It'd be handy if I could just carry some drivers for the flash drive on a floppy disk or something.

1.- You may be able to get a brand if you look through the Device Manager at it, it may list Vendor or something you can Google or post.

2.- If you plug it into a XP machine that you have not used it on before the popup hadware bubble above the clock should give model / brand / idiotic number before it changes to USB Mass Storage Device, i.e. mine sez 'USB MusicDisk Key' because that's what it is. Google the results, or post them for help.

3.- You could buy a new one.

Have you tried Iomega drivers? I vaguely remeber installing them on the old work pc and suddenly my key (non-iomega) worked as well. Can't guarantee it thou, and I think you need a Iomega key during install.

I've found using a Linux LiveCD usually can get you out of trouble when fixing others (some are small enough for mini-cds) and it can access USB-Keys anyway, trick is you need to know linux.

According to device manager the manufacturer is "Compatible USB storage device", lol.

Well, dead end there.

You could try a bus-sniffer to analyse during docking to see if it exchanges any useful data, but I suspect another dead-end coming close.

May be of use, never used it (never needed it) other than that i dunno really.

Any chance of posting a picture, someone may recognise it.

(bus-sniffer: sounds like some sicko preying on women)

Heres another option for ya,
connect to XP
open the 'safely remove devices' thingy
tell it to show all components

That may show a id
