View Full Version : Rate MorB 3 here
just want an indicator to see how people felt the lan went, as in the impression it gave and left with you
was ok. cos i didn't play in the comp, I did get a little bored.... but leeched a bit of stuff and picked up a few little things.. so I'm happy enough..
bieng my first Lan(well that big anyway) i cannot hold judgement..therfore I rate it on my enjoyment level..which was good.
the venu was really good, great spot to have it Just have to pick ur times when it dosnt coincide wit Debs, Granny Dancers and sheep shearing.....(oop Goat shearing).
I too had a leeching, and picked up a little..
I think most people cant appreciate the time and Knowledge that went into setting up a lan like that..so well done jarrad..:D
yeh as beefy said it all went good and i really enjoyed the compd and that so i basically had a blast :D
the only thing i didn't like was the wait period between the last match and the final of the comp
i got bored there because like everyone went home which was ghey
but otherwise it was a great lan well done admin team!

The lan itself was very well organised and I felt it went smooth.
But I think that the majority of ppl wern't aware of the Q3 server and others that were up and running really let the show down.
The other thing that I wasn't overly keen on and I think that a lot of the ppl, that left early, would agree on was the lack of other games being played. I mean CS and DOD are fun for a while but the novelty does where off. By no means is this the fault of the admins they did do a great job. I think that in a room full of .....say 60 ppl - at least one would have stood up and suggested a diferent game, I meen hell it's not like anyone is gonna throw u out for making a suggestion.
Kuddos to the admins that organised MORB 3
I'm gonna have to stick up for the 'other people' here... cos I was one of them.
We didn't enter at all in the CS/DoD comp, so from the start there was basically a group of us who had to play with each other while the comp was going. Whenever we decided to play something new, we just played it. No point trying to tell everyone else, who was already playing CS/DoD...
A couple times people did come and join in what we were playing, but there wasn't much point, as they usually left after 10 minutes to go back to the comp.
That's another big issue. Telling people what's being played. There's no point standing up and saying 'I'm gonna play this"... People are usually too busy playing something else to hear. This is where the projector would have rocked. People, in between comp games and when they are looking for something else, could have seen what was being played and jumped in.
Anyways, after cycling through about 6 different games, we all basically got bored, because we play against each other all the time, so we decided to leave. Our fun factor, or lack of, had nothing to do with the admins. They were doin a great job. It was just a shame that the comp took so much of everyone's time.
there was basically a group of us who had to play with each other
Dude that's gross, keep that sorta talk at home.
And instead of a projector screen we could have one of those bikini clad chicks who anounce the rounds at the boxing. She could just wander around the room holding a sign which said "MOHAA game now on". I'm sure everyone would pay attension then.
Yeah, I thought it was really good...
The thing that I didn't like the most (and I know it's hard for the admins) was the competition setup. It's really annoying to have to wait for opposing teams to get into a game, to have to restart multiple times, et cetera...
I'd suggest timed games instead of a points limit, say, 30 minutes on a CS map from either side, same with DoD (though I don't think the two games should be combined), then it can be planned out how long the competition will go for. A projector screen dedicated to the comp would be useful, showing a ladder perhaps, the teams currently playing, how long they have left, and the next group of teams to play.
You could then have a 10 minute warm-up period before the first round for people to get into the game and 5 minutes grace between rounds before the game proper starts. If someone's missing, bad luck! :)
well to be honest, thats how it was planned - and if people had been more co-operative about when their game was on etc, then things probably wouldnt have run so much overtime. its definitely not our fault that people werent around when their game was due to be played - a timetabled round times would have made life easier, but yeah - we werent going to race round and try to gather a team up to play, however, and then if we juist said time to play - game starts now, then the ppl that werent around would bitch like hell about missing out coz we started wifout em, etc etc etc..
but i think the whole comp things has got too complicated now, A) because not every1 wants to play the one thing, B) prizes are hard to come by, and C) it takes too much time up
small fast comp(s) look like the way of the futurem but IMO the LAN just aint big enuff for a comp.
d) nobody can play cs for that long without getting bored... similar goes for DoD
I dunno I think the ppl that played CS and DOD between matches didnt seem all that bored at all it was the scariest thing i had ever seen 12 hrs or there bouts of that was amazing i dont get it
how ppl can play game a game for that long
I know we certainly can't, our attention spans are too short :)
