Xbox console

The xbox in my opinion is the best console available today. Its been out long enough to be cheap (220 something), and have a wide range of games available, such as chronicles of Richard P. Riddick and full spetrum warrior. Everyone should buy and xbox, then have it chipped and get a hard drive upgrade.

This sounds more like an add than a review so i'll list the xbox's major problems. They are made by microsoft, they cant handle smoke effects as well as the ps2.

Personally, I wouldn't get a normal xbox. There's nothing that really appeals to me to justify buying a normal one. Coming from someone who has a Gamecube and PS2, that's a big call. :)

BUT.... the last few weeks I've been seriously considering buyin a pre-modded x-box. Couple mates have them and they are really handy. Emulators for anything, the ability to play most movie formats, storage upgrade, store games on the console, FTP access... What more could you want? Those who have decent internet connections can also get games to 'try' for a while too.

I just wanna play Burnout 3 and Fable... ;) Nothing else on that console appeals to me...

Yup, PS 2 as well. But I need an excuse for an x-box, so I'm not getting it for my ps2.

bigest prob with the sex box is those fucking ungainly hand controllers fuck there so hard to get used 2! apart from that they mod ! u can whack extra drives in em ! plus i've been thinking about farming out fer a console fer awhile now..............sex box it is just coz i can get soul balde 2 on it!

There's different controllers...
'Extra' drives isn't that easy. Replacement drives are though.

EDIT: WTF? Mario and Sonic? :) The Gamecube got Link (from Zelda), PS2 got Heihachi from Tekken, and X-box got Spawn. I had to get the GC version, cos Link is good.

Xbox's mascot should be that paperclip. I know the games chronicles of ridd ick, but i remembered the censor thing so put his first name too. I finished the game recently at the expence of a few hours of homework.

You are right about the replacement drives, emulators and xbox media player being awesome though. I've seen an xbox replace a car cd player, random mp3 play list, visualizations and the occasional gta3 game.

From the "upgrading" point of veiw the xbox is much better too, like about 20 wires to not solder better, and the lasers dont wear out and esplode chips on the mainboard.

Standard xboxs are shit. U need the Un-Mircosoft 'ed ones. there the shit.

My xbox dosent even get used as an xbox. All i used it for is a Home theater PC to watch stargate and scrubs

Im pretty sure every time i chip an xbox microsoft adds another grand to my tab.

Xbox kicks ass!! Halo 2 will get me back on the xbox for at least another month or two. Every gamer needs a console i reckon, whether it be Xbox, PS or the Cube (though ppl should be slapped if they have a GameCube). It gives me a break from the pc for a while, and gives my TV a little more attention.

I bought my xbox when they first came out and did a software mod chip following a simple guide on the net... 0$ for a modchip!

I did this to quite a few friends xbox's and we had about 80% success rate.... (2 died hehe)

but the ones that died we just got modchipped and it turned out it was just the hard disks were shonky, so we put new ones in those and it was all good...

I have since gotten a mod chip for my xbox, im not quite sure why i did that... just seemed like a good idea to run Linux on the xbox....that lasted about 2 minutes :)

Mine is destined to sit at the other end of the house, plugged into the LAN to stream divx/xvid/svcd TV and Movies to the Projector from my file server.

And the occasional game of Halo... but nobody ever wants to play me. When my Broadband gets put on at this house maybe i'll make the jump to xbox live, or play the hacked network tunneling protocol like I used to.

Software? james bond or mech warrier. 80% success rate is pretty bad, but since most software hack jobs can be fixed with a soldered on chip no loss.
Home jobs where someone thinks its a good idea to drill through the mainboard are a different story.

Ive nearly killed one Xbox while scratching a point to solder to (d0), it was my 12th for the day and i stopped looking at what i was doing. Even if i did kill that one my success rate would still be above 99%.

I've never had an issue with modding them.

I've never bothered with software hacks on them as i want a lot of the extra funtionallity that nerwer gen mod chips allow. Then again i never use my xbox for playing xbox games.

BTW I can see why halo 2 would be impressive on Xbox don't know why they even gonna try to release it for PC cause FPS is a different world on PC compared to console

the x-box is heaps better than the ps2 mainly because of the hard drive. no need for anoying memory cards. Also sony now dont own the rights to many companys anymore, so x-box is gettin all the good games.

PS2 has optional HDD, which I've got installed in mine. And with HDLoader, you can load your games onto the drive for faster loading.. ;)
