Battlefield 1942 and ATI

I don't know if this has been brought up, but is there any known problems with ati's running battlefield?????

While I had the ti 4800 (and my mate had a fx 5600) we used to run battlefield on nearly full with max bots, now we both have ati cards (me a 9700, friend 9600 xt) and it runs like a dog on medium graphics and only half the amount of bots. The only thing that seems to come to mind is that battlefield has a problem with ati cards, or our cards in particular. this was also a fresh installation. Anyway, does anyone know what the prob is, or a way to get around this problem. Thanks for the help!!!!!

It runs fine on my 9700 at 1280*960, high quality everything.

Umm... I think the problem may be in that your going from Nvidia to ATI...

From what I understand Both companies dont have their drivers Uninstall properly, This leads to conflicts when ATI's drivers are installed, as the optimisations battlefield is trying to use are not there! or something like that!

There are 2 ways I know of fixing this...

1. Format and reinstall windows

2. Use a program known as driver cleaner to COMPLETLEY remove the drivers and then Install the ones you want!
I cant remember where to get this program from.. I'll go have a look!

9600xts have problems with battlefield. 4.5 fixed that i think or something over 4 did.

also battlefield doesnt like AA and AF. this was fixed in 4.5 i think. i cant remember which ones but they were the main issues.

mmmmm, bugger..... well, It might be time to format and reinstall windows, I have a sneaking suspicion that the n'vidia drivers are still holding on and not wanting to let go (even though I uninstalled them b4 I put in the ati card and did a thorough search for all the components) A job best left after morb maybe!!!!!

if u fomat and not update/patch up again. i can name about 70 that will slap you up side the team
