Rap Lans..... YAY or NAY!!!!!

Have been considering holding a RAP Lan event, which would most likely be a 30/35 person, and be held once every blue Moon.... most probably every 6 months.

Am interested in finding out what ppl think!!!!!

2 many ppl pike way 2 early @ LANs around warrnambool.... smaller numbers just dont seem to hold the attendence anymore.

I don't really see 30 ppl as a really small lan though... It seems to be a very easily manageble size.... Unless proven otherwise from the superiors like yourself and the other admins. Do you think it would be a lan worth going too???? I know its kinda hard to guess.... but they all start at a small number don't they, and expand from there (not that at the time we are looking to be upping the size).

anywhere from 8 ppl up is fine for a lan, it all depends on what costs and venue shit u wanna put up with as well as whatever ya motivations are for runnin one in the first place...

we were looking to maybe have it at seal.... but we're still keeping our eyes open for anything else that happens to cross our paths. as for motivations... well, we would just like to have another lan going in the area.... just so they're is more lanning goodness.

i'll go to anything thats worth while.

I am keen to play Spearhead multie as i am restricted to about 32k on a 56k and i am out of broard band range :cry:
I have loads of games and no one but me to play with :wink:

you see i work 4 days on 2 days off on a roster
for example this week i work sun mon tues wed then i have thurs fri off then work sat sun and so on
my next sat and sun off is on 22nd and 23rd of may
or i have sun 16 off so i could play all sat night :wink:
it sort of sucks but its beter than no job!
i will come when ever i can though, no hesitations.

Also.... we have been thinking of making the comp clan based..... if you haven't got a clan though... we are willing to make a temporary one for you, for the night..... or put you in with another.


this way it kinda pushes for more clan matches to be played at lans and if you aren't in a clan... to get one going with a couple of your mates. To be honest, there seems to be no real interest in clan matches, theres one or two DOD matches at morb.... But thats it usually. We are hoping to revive clan matches a bit if we can.

i have just moved here recently so my mates live to far to come they would go to BlamLan instead
But i would be a temp clan member but might need some practise at the games u play!

UT2K4 clan matches will be happening all over the place @ morb... mainly onslaught matches :D

open for suggestions in the way of clan matches..... as long as its not too old (I try not to encourage older games to be played... rarther newer ones)

To be honest.... it never really took off in the area.... i myself quite enjoyed the multiplayer. I'd be more than happy to play some renegade.... Its just, is anyone else going too???????

some have been saying onslaught for 2004... I'm not saying we will have that.... but if theres enough interest, we could have that!!!!

Renagade is an excellent team based game with having bases
I know its a bit slow on foot but u can always jump in a big tank and let rip!
and like in counter strike the better players can share there funds to the less skilled players in there team.
There is a character for all types of players.
The LANsi have been to, we have had hours of fun playing teams.
I did not like the game at first but once i got the feel for it in multie at the LAN, i loved it :wink:
not only do u have to look out for your self u have to watch for sneaky opposition trying to destroy your base. :twisted:

Renegade has been surpassed by both UT2K4 and BF42/BF:V...

I don't think you could say that renegade has been surpassed by bf1942 or ut2k4.... to be honest there two different styles of games. I'd be more inclined to say that its be surpassed by savage..... savage is the game renegade should of been as a multiplayer!!!!!! I don't know if you guys feel the same but thats my oppinion.

What I was vaguely getting at is that Renegade was just a halfway point between UT2K4 and BF. It had the slightly unrealistic approach (as in UT), but things weren't lightning fast (as in BF). I guess you could almost say that those two games could be seen as branches of Renegade heading in different directions.. even though it's a load of shit and not related at all. :)

Savage is a different kettle of fish. It's a whole new genre in itself. Renegade should have been like that, but it was no where near it, nor was it intended to be that way. I think Westwood / EA just wanted a break from RTS games for that franchise.

and cracked smells SC:Ghost, damn, when will they leanr that rts and fps should be done by creating series besides following a story which never inteded a fps base? exmaple, cnc were a great series, luved em, never got sick of mp in the orginial, RA was even better, amazing game, never see anything like it again (i like cnc!) but they destroyed it with renegade, boring, useless, dead. some may like it, but i go against it saying it lacked all depth the rts gave. SC, awesome game, still played today, from last count was still the most popular rts played online? correct me if wrong. but what is ghost, a bad Splinter Cell rip? wtf?!

i dont think you should compare games, if they where all the same what would be the point.
Some games i hate that others love and vice versa.

Has anyone had troubles with mods on BF 1942?
Last i tryed 1.4 when i go to switch to the mods in the menu
it closes BF and goes back to Windows.
Havent tryed any later patches (if there is one havent looked)
im running xp :?

yeah and the problem with BF u speak of ricky is a thing to do with using a "backup cd" to play the game....

?? you sure sKuLLsHoT? what problem is that?? I use ClonyXXL to import the right protection for burning in Alcohol and i run it of an image no sweat.

i think he means the copy of the "bf1942.exe" file that we all make just incase the update of the program is unsuccessfull

plus running off an image is different to running of a backed up CD.

i know a good team based game we could play, and i think the fixit will aggree, blood bowl! I did Cisco for 2 years, and now i know how to plug in a cable, if u need another extra couple o hands, i'll spare them.

I used clonyxxl to image the original. so you are saying it will proburly work if i revert to the original execute file.
I use a server patch to play multie without a cd so mayby there is a fix for my problem! :wink:

ok gros heres what i would suggest....(fer team multiz)
1.unreal tourney 2004 onslaught.the more ppl the better it gets! its really cool and has vehicle fer ppl to wreck as well as fellow gamers!!!!!!
2.(i hate to say this) dod
3.any shooter that has a decent capture the flag module(first to X ammount)
4.tight small objective maps(but if this was fer a lan u'ld have to tell ppl which map/game) 2 rounds 1 attack 1 defense

YAY from me gros, UT2004 onslaught seems to be the way to go, but pls no DOD! Dod needs to be wiped from the lanning scene, along with cs. they've lived far past their lifes.

dod will never die. mainly cause 60% of the lanning "regulars" play it or have played it online. it will only die cause none of u nubs would have steam.

Well it seems we have decided on having two comps..... COD team objective, purely because more ppl have played/enjoyed that type of game (seeing that COD and Mohaa are so alike), and there'll be Warcraft team game.... I reckon 2 vs 2 like at morb, it seemed to be a good idea but make it round robin rather than once you've lost thats it. But where still considering all other posibilities yet.....this isn't set in stone yet so still make your comments.... it all helps, even if they are against what we've decided.... it'll help us alot so let the comments flow, abusive or not!!!!!!!!

the stlye of play is called single elimination..

I woulda liked to of seen more ppl wanting to play bf/mods for bf, but it never really got that much publicity here compared to some of the other games!!!!!! If more ppl speak up though, it could still happen..... you see we don't really want to make a comp and have noone be interested in playing.... So speak up now or asap!!!!!!

yeah, my image runs great (though i did purchase it!! You Buy = No Hassles), there might be some cd key issues at the lan too. I know a few lazy buggers who wont be able to play this or UT2004 or Generals or Raven Shield or Call of Duty!!!

its funny.... theres always one out the front... but everytime I go out to get a pizza they take off.... and a different one turns up a cpl of minutes later!!!!! anyway.... we will be just sorting out the venue and we will be setting it in stone.... aswell as putting it up for ppl to register for!!!!! just have to wait for word from the other venue to see what there charging!!!!

well, where talking to warrnambool college at the moment to see if they could put up a place for us to have the lan (lucky we have a member who worked there) so it could be there, but don't get your hopes up, it may be at seal yet
