Explicit content rating at LAN of the Damned

Obviously, I'm a fucking newbie, I have no idea what the specific rules and regulations are at LAN of the Damned as far as content goes. My computer has everything on it, snuff, rape, beastiality, necrophilia, torture, accidents, executions, insertations, oh, and normal pornography. :twisted:

Seeing as I am a professional webmaster, I know the exact legalities of these contents. Everything I have is legal - the rape, snuff, necrophilia etcetera is faked. Will sharing any of this stuff be permitted at LAN of the Damned?

I have thousands of pictures, hundreds of videos and a whole lot of cool crap on my hard drives. Someone might want a piece of the pie.

If porn is banned peachy won't be going.... him and his ever growing 60gig of porn... oh and yes porn is all good at these lans unless JT or Munch say otherwise.... which I doubt.... Share everything you got and you'll fit in real good.

Pron at lans is unavoidable there is all ways someone that has some but some of that other stuff you are talking about is just plain nasty.... and an one of the admins for this event if i see any Snuff or Rape faked or not along that line i will throw you out the door quicker than you can blink.that kind of shite is just plain unnessersary. so the long and short of it is try to keep it as clean as possible and just use a little tact and there will be no problems. so to answer your question regular everyday porn is accepted but in no way condoned.... :wink:

Probably a good idea to put the nastier stuff in a less-accessable area (passworded share maybe). Those that REALLY want it can find out the password. Not good for little kiddies to be stumbling across.

Well, I'd be happier to just rape and kill the kids, but setting a password on my nasty folder is a bright idea.

Is there a way I can just set everything so that the only thing people can access on my PC is a Sharing folder I've selected, or is this the default on XP? I know there's a My Shared Files folder, but I don't know if that applies for just the one PC with multiple accounts or an entire local network too.

Normally at LANs people don't share anything via Windows file sharing. Instead we use a nifty program called DC++ which gives more control of bandwidth and better transfer speeds. It's quite simple to use, you enter a nickname, tell it what you want to share, and then connect to the local DC Hub (which will be dc.lanotd). DC++ will be available at LANOTD on the file server.

The only way to share something with password protection I think is via Windows. Whether passwording this material is enough to satisfy Munch is another question.

Set up a simple FTP server to share the nasty stuff, share the rest on DC

No, he's a realist. The thing is, kids do attend these events, and they don't need to see shit like that. If they wanna do it in their own time, then that's their business. However, I wouldn't like to be the guy that some parents come after for giving their kids content like that.

I think the best idea would have been to not share on a public forum the contents of your porn folder, so you dont risk the wrath of any "draconian moderator."

People will share and do whatever they like at LAN's. The reason they get away with it is because people don't know or it's easier for them to pretend they don't know. While I don't think it would be right for Munch to "throw you out the door quicker than you can blink" based on his personal opinion (I mean if that was how it worked then a few people would probably find themselves asked not to attend certain events all the time), I think that as long as you excercise discreation and are aware that what interests you may offend others attending then things will be all fine and dandy.

example if you were the parent of a 14 or 15 year old child would you want your child having ready access to that sort of smut. me personally HELL NO!!! infact any good parent would be doing their upmost to make sure that their children were protected from it.

My advice is to NOT share your pr0n. If someone asks u for it an they are 18+ then fine burn it to cd or start an 18+ DC hub that is Password protected. Or use a crossover cable.

I back beefy/munch/blacklord.... we all get punished for this kind of thing.... one complaint and it could end the bigger lans, and to be honest I wouldn't like that to happen. Keep it clean. If theres gonna be transfer of pron, do it in your own time outside of the lan or something.... this will ensure we all don't pay the price for something two or three ppl did at the lan.

That's just over the top. It's actually a parents job to protect their kids, not an adults job to give up their civil right to porn so they can babysit the parents kids on a Saturday night.

But, if the kids have to be there, and no one will let me rape them, then an 18+ HUB would be good. I've got a few gigs of porn, Peachy's got 60 gigs and others have heaps. There's just too much to dismiss it.

Kids get it from somewhere. As Lan Organisers u need to have deniability. If u wanna share pr0n then fine. Just don't do it where kids are exsposed to it.

Technically we do have a form of "Duty Of Care" for persons under 18. Just on Moral ground alone we should be stopping children from accessing pr0n until they reach at least 16 perferably 18.

if people are sharing pron folders maybe they should just password it... so if ppl want it they can msg them and ask for the password.. making sure u know who is asking.. incase they are youngins

It just comes down to being responsable with your shares and haveing a duty of care to those around you, no matter what age they happen to be.

You don't have to put up with what you may inturpret as stupid moral obligations thats true. The thing is however, that if you can't find it within you to work in with others that you interract with then you are always going to be seen as somewhat of an outkast by said others and hence develope a name for yourself that you may not end up likeing.

While I believe that it is wrong to attack people for there beliefs, there does come a time when what you are doing is seen as just being plain stupid.
