Game Servers:: Help

I was just wondering what sort of system would you need to run a server for some games, mainly dod and quake, also, does anyone have a link for a good site or file for server commands for the HL console, i'm just not able to find them. Any help would be really grateful!

commands for HL console? just www.google.com? all they u need to know is how to tweak the server.cfg - also, dont search for "HL dedicated" search for "cs dedicated" u'll find everything you'll need

the rule-of-thumb for hl servers that we have set in the past is 1ghz of cpu power and 256mb ram per 12 players I believe - as a minimum. generally speaking we'd aim 1.5ghz+ and 512+Mb ram

theres a fair few sites that help with server admin stuff for different games but a good source is one i used to use that i cant find atm, it was somefin game server admins site or some sorta name like that :D
