two words - Duct Tape

i was looking for info more along the lines of how to go about cutting the holes into the perspex

15-12-2003, 09:36 AM
if theres perfed areas on the back made for the fans, then u would get more effect using them, even cut the whole perforated circle out, for more flow..i do, with tin snips!
wire grills can be sought if yer paranoid of hurtin yer fingies
otherwise, you could drill lots of little holes in a circle, and/or use a coping saw, if room permits, and a half round file or sandpaper to finish it of... or a holesaw..
you could then somehow use somesort of polisher, to glisten it up maybe, but may not be worth yer trouble..

and yeah beefy, duct tape is good fer blocking them holes if ya remove the fans later hehe..

i'd b careful cuttin perspex tho.. melting is a problem if you use drills or saws of any sort - u'll need a slow speed to make sure it dont go all floppy and melt on ya!

i didnt realise u said case window till i re-read it!

one thing with it is that a botched cutout in steel can b covered up easy - whereas in a window it would be difficult.

Almost everything.... it doesn't get bubblegum out of hair... in fact it seems to make it worse

dremel tools work wonders :) mark it out with something.. then use a dremel..
or a drill with a round drill bit. forgot what they were called. :S

18-12-2003, 05:10 PM
dremel + plexi or plastic isnt a very good idea as teh dremel speeds are so high that u would melt stuff too easy its fine with metals and hardened plastics u can melt thru some things just if its a window then the finish/neatness of the cut would b a priority youd think

18-12-2003, 08:34 PM
or a drill with a round drill bit. forgot what they were called. :SErm.....aren't all drill bits round????

18-12-2003, 11:27 PM
thats wat i was thinking...

23-12-2003, 11:28 PM
no u fool...

those BIG circle ones... like nearly as big as the bottom of a lynx deodorent can..

24-12-2003, 12:40 AM
like... so nearly not as big as an 80mm fan??

24-12-2003, 03:23 AM
yeah u can get them... u just got to be careful tho.. go have a look in the hardware store.. tell then u want to drill a 80mm round hole

24-12-2003, 03:26 PM
i thought 80mm holesaws were hard to find..

personally i'd just get a pre-cut one coz otherwise it'll looks shit, aside from that, why bother? shouldnt need one imo, if u have airflow thru the case then theres no prob, invest in better intake/exhaust combo's in the case, even hdd coolers maybe even rounded ide if u havent already

do some cable routing etc, then no need to hack the window at all..

09-01-2004, 01:49 AM
trying to fix his 160GB HDD he killed yesterday :P

he tryed to use partition magic to re-allocate the drive letter, and something screwed up and the drive isn't readable ne more.

160GB seagate, his reset bois etc. etc. and cant even see the HDD past dos.

any suggestions?

09-01-2004, 04:19 PM
gimme, i got just the app to fix it :D

09-01-2004, 10:27 PM
ok. its been fixed, by installing some mobo drivers or something (his not sure)

he is now how ever getting this error when starting up now

"IDE channel no. 80 conductor cable installed

NTLDR missing
Press ctrl-alt-del to restart"

\wtf?

09-01-2004, 11:22 PM
he's usin a 40 conductor cable?
and ntldr error = mbr is fine - partition unreadable or files missing

try dropping drive in another system, copy off whats needed and start an install from scratch?

09-01-2004, 11:36 PM
With the NTLDR error, sometimes you can fix that my using your XP cd to boot into the recovery console and recontructing the MBR...
