I'm sure a fair few of you will be getting or have already gotten the $900 bonus from the government... so who's spending it on a PC upgrade or other gaming stuff?

I'm finally getting around to picking up Little Big Planet, though I'm importing it for under $40 delivered so it's not much of a splurge. Will probably get some stuff on Steam too...

so anyone in wbool got it yet?
was told they are doing them in order of postcode or something (by an unreliable source)

havnt decided what to spend ours on, but considering we are a young family with no income currently (fiance lost job + ive been off work a while to look after our daughter), it will be going towards rent, food, bills unfortunately..

although, if we can pickup some work in the next week or two (have some interviews coming up, or theres always the meatworks again.. augh!), then yeah, i was thinking of getting a GPS for the car, and maybe another cheap/2nd hand 4870, bigger hdd and doubling up my ram.

if me & fiance can both get a job, i might well build a new core i7 system, since we have no debts, and our living costs are low - we would be free to splurge a fair bit then, lol.
also another option is to finally move to watercooling, something ive been wanting to do for most of this century lol

so theres a few options for my package stimulation (hehe)
will see what happens anyway

Still waiting on our money. Though, I did get an excellent surprise today when I looked through a drawer and found $400 that I'd put aside ages ago and then forgotten about. :D Score!

We both got our $900 the other day. I'm only spending 300 to 400 of it, plus some other money i'd been saving, on new PC parts. Half the money went straight on the credit card.

Decided to get a bigger screen. Ended up with a Benq G2410HD for $325. Was hoping for one with HDMI, but couldn't pass this up for the price. Loving it so far, look much better than my old Viewsonic 22".

nice buy.. been thinking of getting a 24" (16:10 though..) myself, and giving the missus my 22" as shes on my old 17" fishbowl CRT...
she got a job today so i might well be able to talk her into that lol.

got my pccg package today, containing some new gaming headphones, webcam, 4x 120mm 2000rpm UV reactive fans (no LEDs) and an "I EAT NOOBS" godzilla tshirt..

got the fans all setup, had 1 spare - they stuffed up and sent an extra lol - and have the TRUE120 in a push/pull arrangement now aswell (edit: which has made it about 10C cooler, over the old single 1300rpm scythe. @ 3.6ghz, it used to hit 70C, now the cores are 60/60/58/58, 75 minutes prime95 sofar. nice!).
moved the TRUEs old scythe 120mm to the front as it moves more air than the lian-li one that was there, at about the same noise level, which should keep the HDDs and 4870 happy.

overall the case is noisier than before (not by much though) but cooler, plus it looks the shiz - so heres a good test of forum gallery (http://dev.morb.ath.cx/forums/album.php?albumid=1)...
also while i had the case apart i cut up an old 486 heatsink and put it on some mobo mosfets using some thermal tape. wont make any real difference to temps, just for peace of mind really..

...umm, sorry for the rant, but ive been crook so all this kept me busy lol

I've decided not to buy anything more for my computer (apart from storage ^_^ ) until diablo3 or starcraft2 come out =D so hopefully HOPEFULLY that'll mean an upgrade at the end of the year ^_^
