A Few Issues about MorB 5

OK Here's my bitch session for MorB 5

a) To the people who removed the cable from MorB. GIVE THEM BACK an nothing will be said.

b) To The Person Who threw up. Own up an if cleaning is needed fork out for it and all will be forgiven


If i have to go through the video tapes (Yes there is security cameras) to find out this stuff I WILL PUT LIFE BANS ON PEOPLE INVOLVED. an not just for MorB but for all our affiliated LANs.

For your infomation MorB DOSENT MAKE A CENT. No me an sKs are not going on an all exspences paid trip, nor are we getting "upgrades" for our PC. Our tickets to get into MorB cost us about $150 each. Now we don't mind that. Next lan we will take that off the top before we start.

ie: morb cost $300+ more to run than we made on it. However we did buy 9 switches an thats a 1 off cost for MorB.

So people give us back our cables an stuff. Everything at MorB is owned BY MorB. Which means if ur running a small lan u can come see any of the MorB admin Team an we can arranged switches, servers and cabling for ya.

BTW a big thx to sKs for the LAN. I know the work he put into it an it still suprises me when he's willing to run the next one in 6 months time.

people ACTUALLY took stuff from morb? they do realise stalker was still principal when that fortress was built dont they?
hopefully it was just some ppl that "accidently shoved it in their bag when packing up"

i dont know how it can be an accident, NOONE should be under the tables at the switches, et al.

every seat has a cable provided and these are clipped into the switch in most cases so the cables can only be taken through deliberate actions.

Whoever took the cable(s) return them, it only impacts gamers in this region negatively by not having them and if you don't own up and are discovered you will be blacklisted... so... weigh it up.

I was no accident i'll wager. The cables were all zip-tied together for this very reason. Whoever did it would've had to cut the ties first.

Yeah i thought it was a mistake. 6 cables missing. we double then tripled chk an yes there are 6 cables missing. There numbered just so that we can keep track of them. sKs counted them just b4 MorB (like on thursday) and counted them again last night. We are 6 cables short. (yes we chk cables at our house an in all the boxes of gear from MorB) we even know what sizes they are.

So if u throw a LAN an someone has a numbered cable. Bash'em an return our cable an u will be rewarded :-)

As for the person that chucked we have already nailed it down to a half dozen people. In fact we are pretty sure we know who it is an all i'll do is confirm it via the cameras. we just giving this person a chance to own up.

Just for the record If we blacklist u it's not just for MorB. It's for all the LANs under VicLAN which is growing fast so it's quite a few lans to be blacklisted for.

If you know what cable numbers are missing, can you pinpoint which table / tables they were on, or did you just dish out the cables randomly?

i cant say what table they were on, only what size they were bagged with, but given its a range of cables of 6 - 20m long its possible a whole row that were tied together were just rolled up n walked out with.

my thought is that it would be from the row with seats 1-15 in them as they are the only tables that had 15/20m cables on it..

one point to note is that Jed from ansonic noticed a guy start rolling up a cable when he was leaving, when he got to the zip tie, he looked around, saw Jed and left it sitting.
We cant name names, but seriously if u took them, we are assuming it would be one of the last 2 ppl that left from that row - otherwise i'd hate to think some1 that helped pack up would have helped emselves to a handful of cables.
its pretty disappointing to have to find this out but if the person(s) could return them to morb central i will let it go - if we work out who it was and they dont return then yer names will appear on THE LIST!

I had to lend 50 cables to a lan in melbourne this weekend - the cables needed to be as long as possible - being short on 4 of my longer cables is - to say the least - annoying. could lanners just spread teh word to other attendees that we r on the lookout for some cables.

if morb never had cables stolen we would today have around 210 but as it stands only 150 now - 40 of which were purchased for M5.

Unless it's me, as my cables were all added to the MorB collection and numbered as such then given back to me for use at home ;), and I take those to LANs with me...

Seriously though if word gets around that you have stolen cables and/or other things from a LAN chances are most people will be mildly unhappy about the idea of having you attend their lans...

How was the cable numbered? Just a texta number near the end?

lol With a bit of very very good detective work sKs has nailed it down to 6 people. We know what cables there were an where they were sitting. By the look of it the cables were tied together an they took the lot.

The Person has 1 week to come forward an apolagise. After that I will be seeking them out to cause physical harm to them as well as making sure they NEVER lan again.

ihave narrowed it down, after rechecking the list, the cables are 6,6,8,10,12,15 metres long each, haha god i know my cables too good :D

anyways, given that - the only place these lengths were used together was seats 10-15 so the 6 people that were seated there are under the spotlight

sif switch makers shouldnt make lockable switches, that lock away teh cables :D

i don't get it. Steal enough cable for a lan knowing that if u asked u could have been lent it anyways :-(

BTW because of this I am considering NOT suppling cables next lan. If people r going to steal them they can bring there own.

Blacklord... Suggestion about the cable problem. Why dont you make it people have to buy cable.. like if they cant bring their own they can buy one from morb... that way they cant get stolen and your making some money for the morb funds as well..

the cable belongs to morb and the reason we provide it is so ppl dont have to get cables that are long enuff or do runs to the switch or interfere with others equipment when plugging in etc - if we sold them then we would have to let them also take the cables after the lan, which leaves us with a prob where person X could take the spare cable next to them... not a good - not done :/

anyways i'd happily organise cables for a peson should they require one - but stealing was just,,wrong
