View Full Version : M5 - Your opinion
The usual feedback request post-morb.
Also i just wanna thank all the people that helped this time round, we had heaps of helpers at setup and a lot who helped packup afterwards, its good to see that there are people that can go the whole lan and still have the energy to packup. i'd also like to apologise for an excessive amounf of dod but i cant help that and hey atleast it wasnt cs...
one other thing i'd like to apologise for is my ventilated pants...i just never got home to get changed lol!
thanks again to everyone for being champs at teh lan now post your opinion and reasons for in this awesome thread..
... i just wanna thank all the people that helped this time round, we had heaps of helpers at setup ...
Not to mention the 4 or 5 of us that sat around 4 an hour waiting for people to arrive to start setup!!!
An all round good event. The only problems that existed were some viruses running around and the set up could have gone a bit smoother. Next time help is asked for setup, make sure that the people that offer to help actually know what they are doing.
All that aside, I had a good time though I piked it early leeched some stuff, played some games, felt the event was well catered for, looking forward to the next.
yeah look, erm, sorry about the delay i wanted to get more done before saturday and was cramming some extra stuff in on friday nite, thanx HEAPS for waiting around tho...
yea nice morb was alot of dod.. but is actually wasnt that bad this time.. highpoint for me was the exstensive teamwork made in ET.. specially by me silencer and shadowman (constantly banded together to get the mission done  ) was heaps of fun would have liked to play some more stuff but didnt.. which is usually what happens at any lan so it doesnt worry me any more.. cheers to beefy for the game of R.O.N finally! and thanks to winter knights for the dinosaur thing.. lol tiptop havnt stoped playin man!
was a great lan
will write more later
just got home from the 6 hr drive heh
i live in a giant bucket. :)
Wolf ET was good, and while I enjoy a little dod I do think almost too much was played. Not enough vietcong and little or not BHD. not as much mohaa this time that i saw (thankfully) and we never got around to our game of opflash. I hear a few ppl were amis at the lack of the promised game of nwn, but not I :)
oh well, at least there was no cs :)
Sadly, I did see people playing CS. You know who you all are, and should be ashamed... :x
Umm, yeah. Little disappointed about the NWN server, that would have kept me there until the end I think. Also a little sad that Desert Combat didn't get much of a workout. But was still a good weekend overall.
I think overall it was a great lan overall.
Good to see more ppl playing lans than sitting there watching divx's! The DOD server was 16 of 16 for nearlly 3/4 of the lan. good to c lots of ppl playing that. ALso Quake 3 was pretty popular. Would have played Desert COmbat except for that gay Data differant from server BS! Worked fine at LAN-X :(
Was suprised No one played Vietcong. Saw the od person playing it though.
dear lads(da morb mob).
well i loved rtcw:et allthough the comp went bum up!
no vietcong played fairly pissed about that!
now not to bemoan the dod /cs hardcore set they could have steped out of that type of game to play sumthing abit different but i realised this is me just blowing hot air now!
no nwnw server ticked on that i wasted the space for it on my limited system to not get it played either!!!!!!
i've only got 22 gig on three hdd's!
q3 hmm mabbe if it wasn't a throw together comp i mighta played!
me & clawcity & osiris(i think it was) had and half decent game of w3:ft.
the last parts.........................
i love the shirts absolutly fantastic!
no pizza! boohiss!(and a pay for charbroiled black bbq, or was this just to recoop some losses lads???)
thanks to cham u are the man!!!!!!!! u know why!
plus i owned i moh:sh wif a sniper rifle!!!!
"i'm here 'til thursday, please try the veal!!!!!!!!!!"
Farking fat LAN!!
Very well organized, by the time I got there everything was in order any way :). Played lots of DOD mainly, no leech for me 110 gig drives are full :(. Good 2 c no CS as its for n00bs, but who comes 2 lans 2 watch DivX's, i saw a few ppl :P. Overall i had great fun, maybe more variety of games next time? No complaints from me though.
Thanx 2 organizers etc... looking forward 2 next one.
Twas my first Morb... Very enjoyable :)
I beat peachy! although we are in the same clan so :S
I would have liked to play some DC, Vietcong and the likes... but yeah there wasnt any server and no one started one up...
Maybe next lan if someone wants to have a game of vietcong they should write on a board the name of the game and then their name and then other people can go write their name up there as well that want to play it and away they go?
Might let everyone play the games they want then.. but meh! it was all good. didnt like dod... its part of halflife and i dislike that like a turd on a stick. mohaa was fun..
leeched about 20gb worth of stuff. still got about 80gb let :D for next lan yay.
hope everyone else enjoyed it :)
glad to see ur enjoying jurassic park nuke.. hahahaha that games fucken addictive. wait for a tornado :P
pack up was easy :) good to see there were a few ppl there to help.
:D :D :D :D :D
5 out of 5 grins
I would have liked to play some DC... but yeah there wasnt any server and no one started one up...
wtf? There was one running for about 6 hours on Saturday. And apparently another one on Sunday.
woops... forgot to add that i didnt have it and couldnt find it :S
as beefy said DC was played.
vietcong WAS played, and it was ALSO on the projector, so don't go complaining that you didn't know.
planned comps not run being big rant, apparrantly the dod comp didn't happen... cos blacklord cbf...
and nwn, no-one ever saw (not that i would have played if it had).
and i never really saw much of the proposed burha v all dod game either.
ok it would b good if the ppl that were "bored" or "disappointed" would atleast post why they vote that way...
i aint gunna apologise about the nwn coz i never promised it. you could easily have organised a game amongst the ppl on DC++ etc. One important point is that we were strapped for ballsy serving machines... (anyone know a wealthy lan investor who wants to supply us wif some XEONS?) which made hosting certain games difficult only 2 or three machines could run bf1942 or dod servers
its funny that people complain about game X not being played when in fact most were, and when the servers were runnin hardly anyone jumped in even tho i had it up in bold on teh projector, regardless i cant really win either way, if i organise a game of sometin for a comp or wot not, i end up alienating ppl coz that game gets too much attention...i try not to force people to play anything.
the main thing that improved this morb over others is that people did have the freedom to play wotever, nuthing much in the way of us stopping them from playing a chosen game becoz of a comp ( yeah i believe there is such a thing as too much dod) even after we dod fanatics were off playin other games like DC there was still all these ppl playin dod, thats a choice lanners make, and ppl have different preferences.
I know i would love to go to a lan where there was 80 ppl just like me..it would be awesome...

That would be frikken weird. Christ imagine being trapped in a room with 80 sKuLLsHoT's!!! I sounds like one of those cruel torture methods from the dark ages!!!
"Tell us all you know or it's the room of 80 sKuLLsHoT's for you!!!"
"No anything but that!!! Couldn't you just hook electrodes to my testicles???"
The only problem that i had concerning comps is in the Q3 comp where i didnt know what was going on, i heard one time that once the current game finished it was the comp, so i played out the next round and i cant remember where i came but i didnt know if i was in the next round. Being not that good/interested and thinking that i probably didn't make it through to the next round i just let it pass and quit the server, just talking to others in the same boat as me said they experienced exaclty the same thing.
But i liked the idea of FFA gaming, just that some desent comps should be considedered a few weeks b4 the LAN so everythings in place. I know it would be very hard to see what everyone wants but i suggest a survey should be mailed out to all who are regesetered for the LAN and go from there.
Over all i enjoyed the sleepless night and look forward to MorB 6 in early Jan (fingers crossed)

We don't mind helping out. Besides we got ta play wiv da ballz while waiting for you guys to get organised
I tihnk skullshot has a good point, the reason why so many ppl play DOD, CS is that it runs on just about anything. And servers are easy on hardware.
Not everyone has a 2ghz plus system, but it was good to see a few ppl play DC, ( skull im still having nightmares over that chopper)
Anyhow very good lan great turn out, the BBQ was good, something differant, and so was maccas breaky, ( still got pancakes left ? )
Can't wait for the next one

If I remember BL was gonna give us a custom module to play on... He was talking about the server during the day, but it never happened.

Actually, when I left, I offered you two machines to use as servers, my 2700+ with 1GB RAM and a P4 2.4 with 768MB RAM. But I understand that it was probably too late by then.

That can't really be helped I guess. It's not easy to organise that number of players to actually work together in some way. I think that's also what lead me to dislike the HL engine so much. It got far too much attention and play while there were newer (and IMO better) games out there.

Just out of curiosity, all those people that played DoD all day, did they actually play anything else? Or has DoD become the new LAN-killer over CS?

I didnt think it was that hard to follow, then again i was running it, quake 3 was run exactly the same as last morb, only difference being we had twice the number of entrants which forced me to split it into a 2 part elimination style thing. Last time i wanted to run it the same way but time restricted me from doing so. Standard way of playing a war/competition is on map restart/clanmode start, the projector displayed who was in which server and who won etc etc, who made it thru and all that so i didnt expect there to be confusion in those areas, obviously damo yelling out teh rules wasnt enuff
(i just cbf yelling at morb im always buggered)
i think i made one of the two votes ur whinging about skulls and i thought i covered my points fairly well (considered i typed it!!!!!!!!!!)
but yes one of trhose two votes was me!
please don't black list me lol!
"remember in the sane mans world the sane must appear insane!!!!!!!!!"
Oh, one thing I was surprised to see was my old Event of the Year video floating around on DC. I didn't even have a copy of that anymore, yet a couple others seemed to.
SileNceR!! You really do live in a giant bucket!
NWN is awesome!!
Warning: If it's at the next one, i probably wont leave!!!
mepmepmep!
you're all sluts,
cat
okkkkkkk... that's an interesting idea cat
You're so very sweet Kitten, lol
hehe like cracked rib and his pos 400mhz block he brang lol
yer i have event of the year in my humourous folder from the hamlan me sks jane and blordy attended, prolly where it appeared from in dc :)
NwN server was there. We could get it off the ground cause it was on the Linux box which was used to host RTCW-ET and Quake 3. If people had ask me about it i would have run it but when no one mentioned it i took that to mean people wern't interested. So i spent my time getting a VC server up (that everyone left cause they didn't like the map SIF NOT TELL ME THAT AN I CAN CHANGE IT)
BTW I can only run games that people ask me about.
I want to run NwN but the more i look into it the more i see for a lan that u need the services of a DM to spice it up. Hopefully someone will learn to DM then they can help me an I'll set it all up.

We need to talk before the next lan then. You need a DM, I need far too much control over smacktards... er... players.. I think we can come to an agreement here.
WK, you better not be dissin on my 400mhz, it still works
...just :(
PS: I know where you live and I'll gladly "swap" machines with ya, is that alright?
