lotd feedback...... are people happy???????

so to the eternal question.............. are people happy with the way that lans of the damned are running???
i would like to suggest some trophy games!
the one from lotd2 was i prime example of a fairlly cool comp that i was stoked to be part of the mohaa comp. :wink:
but enuff prattling from peachy
these are the games i think subject themselves to the rigors of a trophy gaming(in no particular order)

3.warcarft 3
4.insane
5.robot wars
if i've miss any all alot(of other games) please feel free to post them on this thred so we (the lotd :twisted:) can take your personal cosiderations under wing

its done well i admit, but it could be done a bit betta...

i dun think "trophy games" are really on the cards, i mean, sure u could setup some form of tourney but really by doing anything like that you start to cut your attendance in half coz, if persay u had a mohaa comp which took even 6 hours to get thru, wtf would those that dont like moh do? with a low count attendance there aint alot of other things u can do aside from leech or go play an SP game, so one would then choose to not go instead..

i dunno bout u guys but at lans i love to play whatever is new.. not necessarily different, but i like to give the new stuff a go..mostly thats what i tend to see at lotd, taste testing of certain games as well as a chance to play those smaller games that you usually dont get much a chance to have a wack at

all in fav for winter to host a LAN that is as big as LOTD raise your hands, might stop him paying out on other ppls efforts..

dude. bit of help for ya.. shhhhhhhh. optionins a nice, but no need to pull out the negitives allllll the time. that's i'll i've seen with you and this LOTD III LAN... :)

I agree sKuLLsHoT, comps do tend to suck the majority of people outta the gaming pool and leave the others stranded. We've seen problems with this at past MorB events. We'll prob leave organised comps for the bigger events. Having said this if anyone decides at the event they want to play off against another clan or just a group of their mates it can't hurt to ask us to run a dedicated for a while, especially if they don't mind others jumping in to join the fun. Someone did this at the last LAN but then didn't get back to me.... And though it wasn't deliberate, it's cool that our LANs seem to be the place for introducing new games and giving them a trial run. It gives us all a chance to sample some new stuff before the big LANs.

Thanks for the support Delta, i'm glad you approve of our LANs. I noticed The Newbie seemed to be somewhat critical of our LANs, but it's not taken to heart. He's only new to the scene and probably doesn't know the ins and outs yet. Besides i'm bigger than him :twisted:

from the organisation side of things. I don't see any problem.
by the time I got there at 1 pm. All the servers & tables where set. I set my box up ran my cable to the nearest switch and was on the n/w.

Can't get much better than that. The only problems where from ppl not wanting to play the same games or not having those games & you can't do a heap about that, as has been said before.

i might think it could have been done a little better i mean there are only small things that stick out.. like the setup... we were confused as to where we were spose to plug our power into as we were in the middle... we were told we could jump on someone elses board because like last time it would have cut the power to half of the peeps computers. cant have that happening. There was a vacuum cleaner there this time! lol
When we did play games it was good. servers seemed to run fine.. lag a few times but thats bound to happen at a lan right?
i may only be new to the LAN's but im only trying to help.. I enjoyed it.. but hey if you dont want my help then ill stay out of it :)

I would host my own LAN, but i know nothing about setting up servers or anything. which are the main part of a damn LAN so...

I do have a lift home!!! lol i got one from u and one from john! lol even if my mum was able to pick me up i still would of stayed and helped clean/pack up.

No matter where we go or how we do it, no LAN will ever run to everyones pleasure, its impossible to please the world. Yeah there are things that could be improoved but what people need to hold in mind is that these LAN's are organised by just one guy. Fair enough he does get help from others of which im sure he is thankfull for, but in the end all the work that goes into any of these Lan of the Damnd in instigated by the one man.

Just like anyone else who has just started out in the field of LAN organisation it takes a few goes before things start to slot into place. I'm sure after awhile Lan of the Damnd events will reach a happy level of consistancy for all gamers that wish to attend.

Sorry googs but Skulls isn't even in [LOTD] and he isn't the one who oragnises LansOTD. That job is handled almost entirely by Clawcity, who does a remarkable job (especially when you realise how incredibly slack he is normally). I know Skullshot and others have been a great help, and I was originally a lot more involved till family and work commitments got in the way, but Clawcity is now the much abused, ignored and downright ugly man behind LANs Of The Damned. God help us if he ever gets a life....

First it's worth noting the "pinheads" are not members of LOTD nor are they the individual who posed the question. Which leads me to asking, what the hell are you on about??? Peachy asked the question in good faith and neither him nor any other member have abused WK for his responses. Please lay the blame where the blame lies.

Saying that we only run games that we personally like is an outright lie. I run servers for DoD, CS, BF1942 and Quake 3 to name a few, and i'm not a big fan of any of these games. It's not my fault if no one wants to play them, it's up to the LANers themselves.

And how can you have enjoyed the LAN, you didn't even bloody turn up????

It was a nice idea, but who knows what's going to happen... aside from the couple dedicated fellas down there, not many would bother coming up here for a LAN, especially one on the scale of the LANOTDs. We'll see what happens though. It'd give you a chance to come see family up here though.. ;)

We have no control over what people say too each other at our LANs, we are not gods. And the badgering we give WK at TAFE is good natured fun, we gives as well as takes. If we were really flaming him do you think he would still be hanging out with us???
