View Full Version : Bad Company 2
So who else has played this so far? I'm finding it fun but frustrating like any other title in the series.
On the plus side, i dont play MW2 anymore.

Got it on 360, haven't started playing it yet (knocking over a few other games first).
Bunch of mates that I play with on Live have been loving it though...

game = win
server browser = epic fail
a patch just came out that fixes some of the known issues with the browser, and fixes some graphical glitches. havnt played it since that was applied though
edit: the patch has at least improved a few of the things i hated about that browser. but not all of the issues..
also had 3 random, unexplained crashes today, then it worked several hours solid (gotta love days off work!)
also, half decent tweak guide here (http://bc2.dongues.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17)
for those who havnt played but are worried about their PC specs, game runs brilliantly here with everything on high/max aa & af, 1920x1200, on what is essentially a 2yo+ computer with a (current gen) midrange GPU. and it looks great!
i dont think my pc is really much faster than most here (if faster at all).
the game can run fine on dx10 or dx9 graphics cards too.
add me as a friend im playing it as 'davet8', think im only level 5 or 6 atm but got to level 9 in the beta.
mostly play assault or engineer, the odd bit of medic.

have to agree with u t8y the game is awesome the server browser is shite, also the adding servers to favorites never seems to work, nor does server history. once these few niggles are worked out it will be fantastic.
on that hopfully a few ppl start to see the light once the DLC which is (free at this point) starts flowing in Maps etc. i think there is some due on he 30th of this month to time in with modern warfails 2 map pack release that is going to set you back $15 well it's only going to set you back if u buy it cant imagine why any one would bother.
http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/lanotdmunch/SuperEpicFail.jpg its true they cant fix bugs
anyhoo BFbc2 is heaps of fun add .:MuncH:.
So is the game worth getting?
Im possilby thinking of buying it, however i dont want it to end up like cod5, where i played it for 2 weeks and stopped.

Started playing it on the weekend. I can see this being my MP game of choice for a long time to come. It's a nice blend of COD / BF all mixed into one.
I'm enjoying it, however the lag issues I'm getting are ridiculus. I spend a lot of money a month to have a half decent connection but then I'm screwed by a game that can't go the distance. I know if I jump on MW 1 or 2, TF2, L4D or any game in the last 3 years that I'll be getting a good ping. for some reason this game can't do it though, not getting a ping under 150.
anyone know a reason/solution for this?

your not actually lagging or have high latency to the servers, the actual ingame ping is out by about 100ms. My G15 says I've got a ping of 40 when ingame it says 180.

yeah its not ping, its (something else - it escapes me right now..)
its why you can play on some overseas servers with no issues, but crappy local au ones lag.
i just stick to gamearena, 3fl or the decent clan servers (mostly on hypernia hosting)
burnouts, howd you manage level 30 so quick? 8 hours a day every day? several dozen epic ownage rounds? hax?!
i see a few people around with ranks that high. spare time to burn, i guess.
game is well worth the price of admission, great for some online shenanigans, can see this one being a favorite for a while to come
edit: i dont see any ingame options for LAN or making your own server, though i've only looked into it just now.
anyone else have any insight?

the reason u see nothing regarding LAN play is that they did not release any public server files cos they are concerned about piracy, or if could be because they are stupid ignorant gits.
lets face it they didn't put prone in as a movement because one of the lead developers thinks its a stupid movement........
all this aside the game is fantastic fun when its working.

guess we will have to wait for bf3 for the 'proper' battlefield PC experience, then.
ah well

Bad Company was never supposed to be a 'traditional'Battlefield game. If that's what you're looking for, then you'll have to wait.

clearly - its yet another console port.
least this one was half decent and theres been some effort put into the PC version, unlike the "mouse controls and graphics options! wow!" of most recent examples..
enjoying it regardless.
