View Full Version : LAN Of The Damned III

10-05-2003, 02:07 AM
Yes those kooky guys at LOTD are at it again. We're planning LANOTD III for the 7th of June, once again at the Warrnambool Business Center. You can consider it a warm up for MorB 5, but we prefer to think of it as a bloody good opportunity to shoot the crap outta each other. Hopefully we'll be road testing sKuLLsHoT's new LAN registration system on this one. Stay tuned for further information.

16-05-2003, 12:04 PM
'eh, any news on this LAN yet??

17-05-2003, 07:19 PM
LANOTD III is going to be held on the 7th of June at the Warrnambool Business Center (Fletcher Jones) from 12.00 Saturday till 4.00 Sunday.
There is a kitchen on the premises with an urn, fridge, tea, coffee etc as well as a coke machine & snacks machine.
We will be running DHCP and ask everyone to set their IP address to auto to avoid conflicts.
We also ask that people not spread themselves out like they would at home. The last LAN was a bit crowded because of this, one guy who shall remain nameless even tried to setup duel monitors, lol. It's best to put your case on the floor to save table space.
We'd prefer if people bring their own Cat 5 LAN cable, extension lead & powerboard, though there will be some available Cat 5 for the cable challenged.
We'll be entering the building via the rear entrance on Lava Street (opposite house 29E). There is a loading zone there and inside the building some trolleys and a freight elevator.
Registration will be done right here at MorB using the shiny new rego system sKuLLsHoT is currently coding like a man possessed.

But ours is so much better!!!

20-05-2003, 12:34 PM
isnt it ever! lol dont forget a vacuum cleaner!

20-05-2003, 01:18 PM
I dont think that we need a vaccume cleaner you seem to suck up to evey one else enough as it is,
we can just grab you by the ankles and push you around on ya face

he he ony kidding, but it does create a funny mental pic.

a vac could be a good idea........

20-05-2003, 02:01 PM
Oh Munch, I'm liking that idea too. Something else to arrange for M5. :)

20-05-2003, 03:32 PM
um.. how come all my posts in this forum have just disapeared

20-05-2003, 03:49 PM
ive had a few posts disappear as well...

Im NOT being a vacuum cleaner! munch!!!

20-05-2003, 04:31 PM
They haven't dissappeared, they've simply been relocated in an effort to keep this thread at least vaguely on topic. Considering it was degenerating into some sort of discussion concerning Winterknights' sexuality I moved it to the lounge. Other rediculous posts will follow them.

20-05-2003, 04:56 PM
just cos they dont believe me!

20-05-2003, 10:31 PM
Just so people know (not like they'll care though), there's also gonna be another LAN on the same day as this, at RMIT in Hamilton. Details (and event booking) to follow, so if there's any people from the area who don't wanna travel down for the day, then come to my LAN. :)

Sorry clawcity, I got roped into making it the same day. Long weekends are just too good of an opportunity to miss. Chances are this will turn into a regular event too, so I was thinking that perhaps in the future we could work together and alternate venues, Hamilton one time, Warrnambool the next... The facilities are better up here anyways. ;)

20-05-2003, 11:42 PM
will people want to travel though???
Its a bit hard having to travel a fair distance no matter how much better the facilities are. but i hope your lan goes well ;)

21-05-2003, 11:09 AM
a) it's not really that far.
b) there's a bunch of us that come down for MorBs (when we can).

21-05-2003, 11:23 AM
thats morb though.. lanotd isnt that big.
whats the most that would go to a lan there beefy?
could always have a big joint one halfway!

21-05-2003, 12:56 PM
WinterKnights, the HamLANs are good fun, i believe it was a max of 30 when i travelled up for one, it does not take much effort to get there, but i think the point Beffy makes is that the few that would travel from one to the other aren't going to if dates clash, regardless, the rego system is here to hopefully prevent any problems of clashing... also Beffy came down to the first LANOTD i believe, yer, cos he sat with me

21-05-2003, 01:34 PM
That's pretty much it. This time though, the LAN is gonna be here at RMIT, instead of the PAC. I'm using one of the spare rooms where all the desks are fitted with power and network points, so there's no shit running everywhere, and there's plenty of room for everyone. Should be interesting.

Except.... half the little shits that are coming want to play CS.

22-05-2003, 12:03 AM
 not realy happy but it's better to do it now then latter!
I (lotd) the redeemer will not be attending lanotd III because of:
a) my grand parents 60th wedding annerversery
b) & a freinds engagement party

so' i am so offended,i will be not able to attend and load each of your lovely skulls with buckshot (as is {ck} tradition) but no joy!
ohh well signing off

22-05-2003, 12:25 AM
so I was thinking that perhaps in the future we could work together and alternate venues, Hamilton one time, Warrnambool the next...
Looks like LANOTD will be on about every 2 months, so perhaps we could alternate months.

Awwww come to our LAN Peachy!!!!!

22-05-2003, 07:27 PM
peachy bastard!!!
i wont have anyone to shoot me with shot guns :( and anyone else that says they will suck cos its just not the same without the "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

25-05-2003, 04:11 AM
Registration is going very well so far with 26 bums in seats :D

02-06-2003, 01:00 PM
First of all My appologies to Claw for not being as helpfull as I would have liked in the lead up to LANotd hopfully i will be back online in the next week or so but it seems that he has done a damn fine job of getting all the details up for LANotd. :D

well with only a week to got before LANotd, I am calling out for ppl that would be interested in a game of Freelancer.

(yes yes i know this is a M$oft game but if you can get past all the trivial matters like that and maybe even a few mp3 codec issues as well it is a great game)

02-06-2003, 02:49 PM
im looking to get a nice big game of battlefield 1942
CTF going at this lan, more than the last one. its the
only game where you can hit a player with the wing of
a spitfire. fore!

02-06-2003, 05:52 PM
I hate to say it, but Freelancer gets pretty boring pretty quick. Me and a couple others played it multiplayer, and it's good for the first couple hours... but wears thin quick.

Battlefield CTF? That's something you rarely see.

02-06-2003, 06:46 PM
There's still a couple of free seats for the LAN so jump in and sign up guys

03-06-2003, 08:28 AM
I would really love to fill one of those seats but i'll be too busy actually getting paid for sitting on my ass all night. If only i could take my pc to work with a couple of kms worth of Cat5 and about 20 signal repeaters. wonder what the latency would be like?

04-06-2003, 07:05 PM
Make that 25 seats filled, sorry fellas, gotta work all day sat & mon, as well as sun morning, and there's a very tasty looking movie marathon sunday evening - to the tune of Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, and Fat Pizza.

That doesn't mean you can't still have blue, but you'll have to come and "aquire" it again.

04-06-2003, 08:43 PM
GOD DAMN YOU BOTH!!!

05-06-2003, 05:24 PM
We will have a whiteboard up the front at the LAN with a section labelled "Servers". This is where we will list any dedicated game servers we have running. If anyone runs a server of their own please feel free to list it at the bottom of this list, provided you rub it off when you shut down the server. I don't want a list of 15 servers that aren't up anymore, this would make me cross :x

05-06-2003, 05:51 PM
i may be bringing a leeching box.. not sure though. fairly small so it should get in the way. i would prob stick it under my monitor

05-06-2003, 06:25 PM
As long as it doesn't take up any additional space. If it does you'll be paying for the extra seat.

06-06-2003, 04:35 PM
The big day is tomorrow YAY!!!
