MorB 19 wrap up!

So another MorB has been and passed. We had quite the display with our first christmas event. The displays were awesome, the costumes were wrong! I should not have been in tights haha! and the gaming was intense :)

however murphy's law set in motion once again taking out our physical servers, dropping the dhcp, web, and a few other needed features for our events to run.

However congratz to the winners of our comp! and a big thankyou to all our sponsors and most importantly a big thank you to all you lanners that attended. We cant run events without ur involvement :)

Just wish the competitions were organised a bit better.

this was our first lan trying a few new things, one problem was though the server running the CoD4 camp ran out of memory just as we were about to start it all up. now know for next time what to do right :) Please continue with the feedback, the feedback like that helps us make the next one even better :D

How much ram did the server actually have lol? <1Gb?

i can't remember how much it had, just restarted it with 4GB of RAM & it was all good :D

tf2 server fail. no idea why, it was working earlier in the night. later on, kept giving me "server running 3rd party mod" or something..

other than that, my only gripe was i had to leave early to work the next day. had a nanna nap at my workstation just before knockoff time, was that quiet i was hardly needed.. grr

comps werent run on time cause of our network issues sadly. However from a server setup pov it was our best yet (much easier setup from an admin side of things) so we'll build on that, learn from what went wrong and hopefully (fingers crossed) comps will be hugely better in the future :)

Any chance we could get a linky to that Facebook page? My tiny brain fails at locating it :S

Other than that, yet another great event! Perhaps we could get some Trackmania going next time to mix things up a bit? (It is free after all)

Thats interesting t8y, did you have the latest update that only came out the afternoon/evening before MorB? Axol started a non-dedicated server and ran that for about half an hour, then they moved to the TFT2 dedicated server once it was ready not long after that. I had to wait for the limited internet to be available to authenticate install (the free) TFT2 dedicated server from a steam backup.

There's a thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=817131&page=2#26) on steampowered.com with people experiencing the same problems with no clear cut explination or fix (i have linked to the post with a possible fix - too late now anyway).

yeah its weird, the server was fine earlier in the day, just when i went to rejoin later i couldnt get in. also noticed there was no-one else on it most of the night, not sure if thats coz they couldnt get in either, or everyone was playing something else..

i was running a server aswell prior to the morb one going live, then we all jumped over to that.
was fully patched the night before, made sure of that. and the game had been run since the patch (wanted to get some practice against the new weapons..)
was up til late friday night "practicing" i think (also rebuilding PC..), it was a whole weekend fuelled by caffeine.. only just caught up now

I'd say it's just a teaser, but thanks to lack of tripod most of my shots are a bit "suck." High ISO is super horribly noisy :( Hopefully the tiny (max 1000x1000px) images i'm uploading will mask that a little ;)
