LANOTD:Rev - Recuperation

The LAN Of The Damned: Rev has been and gone and I'd like a bit of feedback on the event. Hopefully everyone had a good time, I know we did :D
I'd like to express our gratitude to Peter Costello for his help with the venue, and sKuLLsHoT for all the help he gave us with servers and a myriad of other stuff....even though he was LATE!!!! Thanks also to The Master, Tommy, Silencer, Lord Nikeon, [LOTD] The Redeemer, [LOTD] Tholian and WinterKnights for their help.

and it was good, even better when i moved to the room where it wasnt so hot and the lights were off.

flurescent lights = teh pain. glare - bad.

this time only a complaint re the heat and the lights, window wasnt opened (that i could tell anyway) and the lights stayed on for all but the mohaa comp

i could complain about the time without networking, but that was explained by the tardiness of the suppliers of the afforementioned gear, so it's all good :)

Someone did open the window, but they also closed the blinds, lol. Kinda defeated the whole purpose of the thing. We had a fan going to try and circulate the air too. Next time I'll have to grab the other fan as well.

Yeah that's happened at both LANs now. I don't think people will be happy until i've had a coronary.

Had a heap of fun. Although i plan to bring more food next time...
more computer mods and more hard drives.
We should of had more comps.. the mohaa comp wasnt that good.. i prefered some of the other matches...
also cs was a BIG disappointment... some shite game.. i hated it..
the matches of insane were INSANE!
warcraft 3 was ok.. kinda boring though..
I also have to agree with silencer.. the heat was shite.. the dark room looked nice.. i would of moved in there if i could be bothered lol some guy in thee had his girlfriend there.. fuck she looked bored! id never bring my gf to a lan..
but all in all it was fun!

hang on someone at a lan had a girlfriend? thats like someone on a submarine having boobs, Or someone doing an arts degree having a love for maths.

my gf used to turn up, but since we live together now she gets enuff time with me so she dont need to lan as much - atleast then we get to use her computer as a server :D

anywayz soz about bein late but u ppl cant complain about the time the network went up THAT bad coz it was written somewhere that the lan began at 11am and i think i got there at like 20-past which meant it was ready shortly after that - BLAME SIMCITY for my lateness, damn game kept me up all nite :D

i enjoyed the bits i can remember, but my legs hurt now

I think it was a pretty big success. Blackhawk Down was pretty fun. There was a decent range of games being played.

Good to meet some new lanners.

Suggestions for next lan

- Get Peachy a gag

- Use one of those volcanoe fans at the door as they seem to push more air than that standing fan :P

- Make anybody who camps with the sniper rifle sit facing a corner to think about what they have done

Other than these few points, the lan went well, worth the drive!
One thing i did miss was a decent game of Unreal Tourn, i was looking forward to a big bombing run game......

yeah. the LAN was kewl, there was something missing but... and there were some HORRIBLE lag issues with the DoD servers :-/

BHD was ortie, when we played team games, but dethmatch was camp it up style.....

didn't play more then 10mins of MOH:SH, unsuale for me.

I've noticed quite a few complaints about the heat. I'll try to do more about that next time, I guess Warrnamboolians just aren't used to warmth, lol.

what gf u guys talking about if it was mine well..she wanted to see what all the fuss with a "LAN" was all about, and ya she was a bit bored cept when she waas playing UT2003 and BHD...she fraged Blacklord a few times but meh thats not hard..camping whore :P

I sorta wanted to see a few more people join in on our little Vietnam -LOS missions.

BHD was awsome when we had everyone in the Arena.

I think I had more fun in d0d.

and yes our room was cool..We still Payed like everyone else though which I didnt mind.

Overall I think LOTD put a good show on.

yeah shadowman i think it was ur gf... sitting in ther corner sort of? i walked in and had a look around and im like... omg... poor girl... must bored shitless...

He actually suggested a ballgag himself in the pre-LANOTD:Rev thread. I therefore bestowed him the title of official LANOTD gimp. The crazy bugger even made up a ballgag....but his son destroyed it....
He was pretty bloody loud, constantly screaming "WEEEEEEEEEE". I think Silencer actually got it on film, lol post it Silencer!!!!

And Shadowman, I actually had a server list written up on the whiteboard. If you wanted more players you could've just written it up there.

yea good lan guys it was worth rockin upto, glad to see BHD was a hit bout time a delta force game made a hit, and i got resistance... ive been waiting months for that game! YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY /me thanks BL a million times. Hey winter knights.. were you the one oppsite jonny? you the the one with the weird shaped head? like an upside down road cone? i dunno... Dod was fun to first time in a while for me

Clawcity, I remember u saying that to me at the lan but maybe there is another way to get everyone into a game I have no idea how but it would have been really good to have a lot of people in servers..maybe a rotating server thing where everyone jumps into one of many games and then after a time period everyone moves onto the next game server until u reach the end then cycle back through them..dunno..

I did rotate the servers, though the games we had were a bit limited. Never hurts to come over and ask me to host a game if you got the install for me.

i think i missed a big chunk of fun...

it basically comes down to the fact that u can't realy force anyone to play a given game, some do out of sheer lack of alternatives, but there are the usual ppl that wont play"other games" i think it coulda worked better tho if we said, everyone play mohaa, now every1 play bhd, now everyone play dod, or somefin like that, i think moh/bhd woulda been a fair switch as they seemed to me to be the games that got heaviest airtime.. but i missed a chunk..

Quake 3 used to be pretty popular, there was even a Q3 comp at MorB, but it's getting old now. I actually ran a game of it at LANOTD:Rev but I don't think anyone joined.

I also think that if you had of done that, a large majority of laners would have been more than happy to do that,
sometimes a little bit of verbal direction dosnt hurt...:)

i was gunna say i was re-iterating past lan suggestions but my post is basically meant to say that i think u can only really provide the lan and play the games, by rights u really shouldnt b forcing ppl to play one game or another..

I played on the q3 server. Though I was by myself, so it wasn't much fun :P

So how soon would everyone be interested in doing it again???

Yeah as long as people don't leave to early again and we actually all get to play more than 2-3 games! we need like a whole list and to be able to get everything off more than 1 server!

Yea good point winter knights, i was late getting into the mohaa comp cause i had to get the update of the server and everyone else was too i barley had time to catch up.. anyway im thinkin of having one last lan at my place before i move out...maybe not another all weekender like that last one... unless thats what people want but i dunno

Considering everyone had been given 11 hours to get the updates, we figured it was enough time.

that's what I was 'bout to say, the server had been there since the beginning of the LAN at 11am'ish, and it was only like 10

We started at 11 am and the comp was at 10 pm, that's 11 hours :p
