Heh :D

Best yet, well done to the admins. no silly people running around or anything. good lan :)

How was it for everyone else?

14-09-2008, 12:30 PM
Was good, didn't get all the downloads that i was hoping for, but still good :)

14-09-2008, 12:50 PM
Had fun, second place in TMNF Comp ftw

14-09-2008, 06:25 PM
Damn you brocky i still got 200gb to get off ya lol.

Fantastic lan guys. Once again. Loved the debate in DC++ Chat about what the best Next-Gen console is :P .

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next. Well done to the LanOTD crew!

Well a shitty start for me as my external hard drive wouldn't work.

Then I had to go home to get something for a friend.

Then we figured what the problem was and had to go home again to get an IDE cable.

Then we got it working.

Then I won a raffle

Then I won the Trackmania tournament that went for far too long. (Damn warm up races).

Then I went home......and that was the end for LanOTD for me.

Overall it was fun! :)

Loved the debate in DC++ Chat about what the best Next-Gen console is :P .

Oh, that's easy. Anything that's not a Wii. :)

I know, not the place for this argument again...

I have decided that I have no idea what you are talking about and the only way I could once have known but not know now if I had forcibly (bashed my head against a wall) removed this memory from my brain. (along with the memory of Munch without pants on)

Great lan guys, and thanks very much for the prizes :D

(I'd never played that game before, SURELY you could have bet me...)

Grats to Ginga for winning the "Superbilling/Crucial" Quake 4 tourney comp and a nice one to win it earned him 2gb of pc8500 (1066mhz) ram from crucial and a voucher form superbilling.
also I must apologise go ging for the wardrobe malfunction i had leaving him scarred for life though it was funny as hell.

well done to novanero for winning the trackmainia comp for his troube he scored some thermaltake gear and some other stuff.(cant what remember im still half asleep  )
TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH

on another note the LAN was about as smooth sailing as we have had for a number of years with only a few vista related issues and a couple of DC problems but, i can handle that and how good was it to have no-one running around like idiots.

well done to all the comp winners and thanks to every one that helped out (especially Karl how funny did ur car look loaded with teh entirety of the LAN gear) hope SKS took notice of that should save u some time come MORB

15-09-2008, 03:42 PM

15-09-2008, 09:41 PM
well I had a great time, comps were fun and well organised. Probably cos the tourny mode in both quake and Track Maina made it easier for every one, though you have too admit everyone crashing at the start of a track was funny.

The new shirts were also a nice touch, good work guy. :)

15-09-2008, 09:53 PM
sellin the t-shirt? lol

Nah its my nighty :)

15-09-2008, 11:18 PM

Although the venue stiffed us on tables, the LAN went very well, we even had a bit of a MOHAA run. People's behaviour definately improved, though in future we'd like those who have their little group huddles to setup on the OUTSIDE of the rows so they don't choke up the main thoroughfare in the center of the rows.

Thanks to Lotness and Donkey for their help during setup and packup. A special thanks goes to Donkey's better half, not only for helping out, but also for putting up with his crap for so long ;)

Congratulations are in order for Ginga Ninja on his win in the Quake 4 competition and also to Novanero for winning the Trackmania Nations Forever competition. That Trackmania comp was crazy fun, and I wasn't even taking part :) Unfortunately Lotness had less luck in the Kill Da Admin comp.

We'd like to thank our sponsors for the swath of prizes we had to give away. Items were donated by Crucial (http://www.crucial.com), Super Billing, Thermaltake (http://www.thermaltake.com.au), Jack's Games, Netspace (http://www.netspace.net.au) & Gigasoft IT Solutions. We gave out heaps of "Gamer Of The Hour" prizes and the raffle was great fun, though hopefully next time we won't draw Grizzly 10 times ;) And who'd have expected Peachy to draw himself, and on the very first draw too, lol.

Thanks also to McDonald's (http://www.mcdonalds.com.au) and Pizza Haven (http://www.pizzahaven.com.au) for the discounted meals *pats belly*

Photos from the event should be in our photo gallery soon.

18-09-2008, 10:40 PM

Always wandered what my car would look like lowered

21-09-2008, 09:43 AM
it looked like a camry with shot suspension. i wouldn't bother lowering it, simply put u cant polish a turd. (harsh i know) but seriously thanx for taking all the lan stuff back dude that was cool of ya. 8)

good pics, wish i could have made it.
whens the next one? before or after the next morb?

i made a comment on a pic there, but ill repeat it here, next lan you should get some pics of cases (both outside and inside the windowed ones), im sure a few of those guys went through a lot of time, expense and effort modding/pimping out/ricing the cases..
i like to look at other peoples setups, to compare and get new ideas. always good to see other people as passionate about their setups as i am

maybe a token prize could go to a well presented/unique case (ie; not a black case with blue neons heh)
even if it were just a pizza voucher or a flash drive or something

i particularly liked the silver toolbox PC, would make for a nice lan box for sure.. more desk space for snacks (or peen enhancing multi-monitors lol)

23-09-2008, 01:37 AM
i believe the "silver toolbox pc" is only a storage drive box...

23-09-2008, 08:51 AM
it is, 4 HDDs in there pumping on a Powersupply and some LED fans.

23-09-2008, 01:26 PM
It's a USB array of SATA HDDs, 6 drives I believe. The Master built it, complete with PSU and cooling fans. There's a couple of good photos of it in the LAN Of The Damned XV gallery.

If I see interesting cases I take photos of them. The problem is these days no one mods their cases. Most of the ones you see at LANs are bought with all the windows, lights & fans in them. A competition would be difficult to judge and ultimately pointless. The days of peeps modding their own cases are largely gone.

23-09-2008, 06:48 PM
..yeah i thought that myself after the last MorB

black is the new beige..
i cant talk tho, my current setup looks pretty much like everyone elses too.. i just didnt want to put in the effort this time i think.
parenting is too much of a drain on my time i suppose
ill do something thats more unique next build, mATX 8 core nehalem crossfire or something lol

23-09-2008, 06:51 PM
i think me and axol are the only ones with something different :P

23-09-2008, 08:32 PM
well i'll be black with red detail next lan, new case comes next week and some mod gear. many perks involved with working for a pc shop

24-09-2008, 09:59 AM
well i did have something different but my cathodes and stuff burnt out and tried to set fire to my pc 8O the smell was awful since then i just left it stock. my next case will be a full custom build in plate aluminium.

in serious need of an air compressor lol

26-09-2008, 10:42 AM
i bought some decent fan grills from pc case gear, havent had a dust issue since :)i just clean the grills now, its fair easy :)

26-09-2008, 12:01 PM
even if you meshed the case fans, put a light mesh in front of the intakes and just clean those, it wouldn't be too bad.

but thats very dusty, even for an acrylic case.
