View Full Version : Monitor calibration puck thingy.

Those who do the heavy photo editing here will know what i'm on about here...

Those little pucks that you sit on the screen and it does the colour calibration for you, and gives you a screen profile to use.

Do they work?

You see, I use different branded monitors with my puter, and can not get the colour to match. I can get it reasonably close, but I'm still not happy.
If I was to use one of those, would it bring them into (near) identical sync?

It'd be also handy if it took it to reference levels, as some of the work I do goes out to the printers in Pantone colours...

yeah me too, but i can still tell that there is something not right in the tones of the 2 displays, but i think that its all to do with the contrast

Nah, but seriously, anyone used one? Or know someone who has so I can pick their brain?

I haven't personnally used one but I did a bit of research for a customer a little while ago and found these guys http://www.ausmedia.com.au/calibration.htm. From talking with the guys there they seem to do what you are wanting. I would love to get my hands on one for a play and to calibrate my monitors at home. They're not that expensive as well, if i remember right the spyder3 was only about $150ish I think.

Nice, thats basically what I'm after.

Except I'd have to get the pro edition, as the express is single monitor support only, and also doesn't support alternate gamma settings. (I have 1 monitor that runs 2.2-native and another that runs 1.8-native, thats why its a pain to match)

So I'm up for $300 for a Pro.
Hmm, might look into that a bit more... Thanks :)
